I went kayaking today at a small nearby lake. I recently purchased a 10' kayak, lightweight and easy for me to pick up and handle. The one we have at the lake in Canada is 17' and difficult for me to load on the car by myself. I've been taking my new kayak out once a week since I bought it but today was the first time I've been brave enough to take my camera out on the water. I have a waterproof bag that worked just great but I was still quite nervous taking the photos. I'm sure with time I'll feel more comfortable. I'm hoping to go on some scenic kayaking excursions in the near future.
Nothing special about this photo . . . just documenting my kayaking activity for the day.
How exciting Gayle. I think you must be a keen kayaker from your profile picture. My Dad made a kayak when we were young, and we used to load it on the car and go off on adventures (there was a second one that he bought). I hope that you will soon be confident with the camera and the kayak (I'm not sure that I ever would be) and we will start to see lots of new views from your travels.
But this picture is very special because I can almost feel that I am there with you. I had a kayak once when I lived in Mexico and loved it - I actually paddled in the Pacific - a really big deal for me! So, thank you for taking me along!
I first thought this was a post from Kathy when I saw the tip of the kayak - how exciting to have one you can handle yourself so easily. You're going to have such fun with it and your camera.!
I love this photo, Gayle, it points to the future & the wonderful time you will spend on the water enjoying your kayaking & the super photos you will share with us all.....:) :)
Nothing special about this photo?! You are joking. I love that you're out there kayaking and taking photos. Be careful with that camera, but keep the photos coming. As Suzie says, we feel as if we're out there with you!
Nice shot. Evocative for me as I used to teach kayaking for a living and doing this sort of trip was always one of things I loved about the sport. Enjoy your new boat!
