What could be more nostalgic than a quilt pieced from clothing worn by family members? My great-grandmother only had one child, my grandmother. My grandmother, however, had 7 children. I imagine my great-grandmother spending her later years making this quilt from her grandchildren's old clothes, feeling both happy to be part of this busy family and a bit sad to see them growing up so fast.
@jsw0109 These are nine-patch blocks in an Irish chain setting. If she's a quilter, she'll be familiar with this basic block. I am grateful to have inheritied this quilt top.
each quilt is so special, with their own story. I have one that my Mom made and I love the fact that I rememeber the dress or the blouse, that once it was.
A nine-patch of nine-patches! And like the quilt I recently featured, unfinished. So much history, and you will now have to decide whether to finish her quilt, or to leave it as it is . . .
