Red wattle! by gilbertwood

Red wattle!

There are over 950 species of wattle in Australia which are all shades of yellow. However in 1995 two bush walkers found a mutant red wattle in the bush in Victoria. It has been successfully grown from cuttings, but is still quite rare to see. My sister was lucky enough to buy a plant many years ago and it is now finally flowering.
Oh these are certainly curious and unique. Excellent detail on these spiky little flowers.

@denisedaly @hermann @darthkitty @karlow75 @tellefella @lynnilou @cejaanderson @seattlite @eyesmile @ladymagpie @elisasaeter @junep @pyrrhula @denisefuller @milaniet Thankyou all for visiting and commenting. I was so pleased to see that my sister's tree had flowered. As for the people who aren't aware of our Australian emblem flower, I will go out and photograph some of the various yellow ones out at the moment soon. Lyn - what a pity they are invasive aliens in Sth Africa- must be the wild, wild ones!
