There are over 950 species of wattle in Australia which are all shades of yellow. However in 1995 two bush walkers found a mutant red wattle in the bush in Victoria. It has been successfully grown from cuttings, but is still quite rare to see. My sister was lucky enough to buy a plant many years ago and it is now finally flowering.
What lovely wattle flowers and I didn't know that, thanks. We have some growing in the recreation reserve nearby and I never realised the colour was so special, that's cool :) A lovely shot.
