I love photographing birds; it's such a challenge. They are so often on the move. It was fun watching this young one teetering in the wind. :-D The yellow on the beak close to the face tells you that it is not yet fully mature. A young bird this late in the season means it's very probably the 3rd brood for a Momma English Sparrow; which is not unusual (as only 20% make it to adulthood.)
(Note: this photo has been cropped, and I saturated the color a bit.)
Greetings! I'm from Connecticut (USA) Photography is one of my lifelong passions (others including gardening, woodworking, history, and being a part...
You captured so well Les. The sun shining on the front feathers adds a touch of sparkle and the expression in his eyes is pure concentration. I don't mean to brag but your friendly cockatoo was back today eating my trees. I think he is a regular now. Nic x
@nicolecampbell Hi Nicole, and thanks so much. I spent a long time there waiting for the birds to perch on that fence because it was sunlit. I guess it paid off :-D
So you have a new resident, eh? I am green with envy, and would be out there all the time following him around with my camera. Do people feed these birds? Are they birds people want to attract to their yards? What is he eating in your yard? Oh, lucky you..........Take care, Les x
@susan82 Hello Susan, and lots of thanks. I too like the DoF on this shot; it comes from zooming way in. I'm hoping I can go back to this spot in a short while when the foliage has changed color, and the background will be REALLY different. Happy weekend, Les
@kimmiesue Lots of thanks, Kim. It was pretty windy when I was shooting, and this poor little girl was hanging on for dear life! :-D
Hope you are having a swell weekend, Les x
