Woodland Abstract by glimpses

Woodland Abstract

I was first introduced to abstracts during the August Abstract challenge; something completely foreign to me. Now, I absolutely LOVE shooting abstracts taken from Nature. I have something new and challenging to learn and refine. That is one of the things that fuels my passion for photography: There is always something new to learn!
Very creative idea.

Nice! Great texture and abstract!

So the question is Les, what is this? I can't decide if it is the side of a barn or a tree? Great shot.

@nicolecampbell Hello Nic - and lots of thanks. Now I know I've taken a "true" abstract; you can't tell what it is. LOL Take good care, Les x

@glimpses - and you still haven't provided the answer! :)

so glad you found a style you enjoy. I love the fact that I have gotten to try so much on here. Some works out, some are epic fails, but at least I tried.

@nicolecampbell Ha, Ha, hee, hee - you'll have to wait my friend; remember, it's only morning here, and I don't want to give it away with the entire day left to try to stump people. LOL Hint: the title Have a good night, Les x

@brumbe Hi Paula, and thanks for stopping by; I'm sure you must have a lot to catch up on. I'm with you; 365 has been an AWEsome place to learn and try (and fail at) new things. The last thing I want is to get "flat" with my photography, and just repeat the same styles. I'll be saving up $$ for a good tripod that will allow me even more exploration. Your Impressionistic photos were OUTstanding!.....really immpressive. What I found astonishing was how quickly you took to them; you were great at the very first ones. :-D. Take, care, Les x

@purplewitch Oh Cala - you cracked me up something royal!!! I truly did LOL!! Shredded wheat - how hysterical........But I guess over there you have what, Weetabix??? Have a good night, Les x
October 19th, 2011
@glimpses yes we do have weetabix they are mine and Dylans favourite especially with hot milk when its a cold frosty morning, just like my nanna used to give me when i was little haha xx

Absolutely no idea what this is, Les, which makes it a brilliant abstract!

I rented an induro tripod (travel model made of carbon) and it was completely perfect. They have one in aluminium alloy that is 2/3rds less in price and just a few ounces heavier. I already put it on my Christmas Wishlist. I actually would have no problem in buying used. Now the tripod heads I am leaning towards simple is much better.

@nicolecampbell @purplewitch @cath @mjmaven @mwarren365 @shellbelle Just to let you know: this is an SOOC macro of the underside of a flap of tree bark (clever you, Nicole :-D) Never seen that kind of tree before; don't know what it is. Thanks all, Les

Wonderful abstract. I have to challenge myself more. I'm so content to just take a shot of whatever animal crosses my path. I"m trying to stretch a little now.
October 25th, 2011
@maggie2 Thank you muchly :-D As far as trying to stretch goes, I think it's great to try new things, to keep our photography fresh. And, you might find out that you are incredibly good at something you haven't tried before. But I also think it needs to be something that is pleasurable, excitng, satisfying, and FUN! I think that's when we're at our best. :-D You'll know it when you see it. Be very well, Les x
