These magnificent sails belong to the Charles W. Morgan, the last surviving wooden whaling ship in the world. She had an illustrious 80 year sailing history that spanned the globe, and was retired in 1921. With a crew of only 35 men, sailing years at a time, she could hold up to 90,000 gallons of highly prized whale oil. She is part of a living history museum at Mystic Seaport in Mystic Connecticut. (To learn more about her, and the perils of whaling, you can visit: http://www.mysticseaport.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.viewPage&page_id=58CDBE74-65B8-D398-78B82F78C63BCD4A (To see another photo of her, (in sepia) check out my posting on Jan. 18) (P.S. I'm taking a break from "365", probably a couple of months.......see you when I return. x)
Greetings! I'm from Connecticut (USA) Photography is one of my lifelong passions (others including gardening, woodworking, history, and being a part...

@glimpses Les, really hope you get better. Sounds like you have your priorities in the right order. Take care of yourself first and hope to her from you when things are better. Take care. Mike
This is such a cool shot - love the masts and sails "sprouting" from the roof tops! Enjoy your break - sometimes we just have to do what's best for ourselves!
Oh what a gorgeous capture, Les!! I just got back and now you're leaving for awhile. I love this composition of yours and the beauty of this ship ... yes, they have an amazing history. Aww, Les .. enjoy your time off. I will miss you and the beautiful, warm and kind words that you've always given to me. I'll be "off and on" this summer also. You take care and I look forward to your return. Take care and may God Bless you.
Hello all, Thank you kindly for your views and comments of late.
I wanted to let you know that I need to take a break from "365". I'm not sure how long; probably for the summer (or winter, depending where you are :-)) I've had a few setbacks, (nothing I can't handle) and my heart just isn't in it right now. I'll pop in now and then..........
All my best, and take good care, Les xx
