Lonely Boy by glimpses

Lonely Boy

I've watched this fella since early spring, and he's always alone. He seems not to belong to any of our Squirrel families. But he made it through the winter and is healthy as far I can see. Squirrels are very territorial, and so he doesn't get to "join in any reindeer games", and is shunned when the mating "competition" takes place. Took this photo from my 2nd floor porch; he looks a bit sad. (Thank you muchly for your views and comments of late. :))
He does look sad; but it's a very sweet capture, Les.

@denisedaly Lots of thanks Denise; no crop here though. :D He was already close to my porch; then a tripod and wicked zoom, and he took up the whole frame! Take care, Les

@nicolecampbell Thanks Nic........he's around my front tree a lot and doesn't go very far. Since I can get this close to most of the Squirrels around my place, I've started a "Squirrely Logbook" - I identify them by distinguishing marks - like the notch in his ear. It's fun, challenging, and interesting. Take good care, Les x

@bkbinthecity Many thanks Bob; and yes, it's highly interesting and amusing to keep track of him and others since Jan. actually (believe it or not, that's when they start mating - the first Jan. thaw!) In my area a healthy female will have 3 litters; the 2nd is any time now. Take care, Les

@amyjriker Thank you Amy; I'm fortuanate to have an huge Sentry Maple right in front of my 2nd porch, and it even goes over the house. It is a whole world of life - right in front of me. I've been awed, amused, and grateful for all I've seen in the 28 years I have shared with my "Old Friend." (That's what I call the tree :D) Take good care, Les

@jannykoster Thanks for stopping Janny; that's Squirrel life, pretty unforgiving. It's sad to see others chase him away. But he may yet find acceptance, perhaps among this spring's first litter (now grown) who don't know they're supposed to exclude him. :D Take care, Les
