This SOOC macro is deceiving; the berries are actually the size of a pencil eraser. Don't know what they are, but they can found in abundance along some country roadsides. I thought that they would be a bonanza for the birdlife. NOT! I picked one, squished it, lightly touched it to my tongue, and the bitter, acrid, nasty taste lasted well into the next day. Derp! I should have known they were caustic since the birds hadn't touched them! :D
(Filler I decided to use for the theme.)

Gorgeous capture, Les .... love the colors and the textures!! You know, I wondered when I read your comment ... do birds know something that we don't know?!! Interesting study ... really.
@carolmw Thanks Carol...and me too - I'm glad for no lasting effects. I forgot the first rule of "woodland tasting": nose first; if it smells acrid, nasty, etc. it probobly tastes that way! hahaha My best, Les x
@karenann Always a pleasure when you stop by Kareann; thank you. Yes! They know booodles that we don't know! :))) And, I learn a great deal from watching and listening; it's more fun than reading about it. :)) My best to you, Les x
