Cleome (For Robin) by glimpses

Cleome (For Robin)

Also called "spiderflower" this is Cleome Hassleriana, one of 275 species. The flower head pictured is about 14-16" (36-41cm) in circumference, not including the stamens. It is a fascinating plant to grow (and photograph) and blooms from mid summer til fall, reachining heights of 5' (150cm). Mine are over 8' (244cm.) !! This variety is called "Queen Pink." In my neck of the woods, they're called "Grandpa's Whiskers. (Will show more of the entire plant and the interestings details later, maybe in a collage.)
I like the added bee. Les your garden must be magnificent. I know you love your macro shots but are you able to take a wide angle picture of your garden so I can see how lovely it is please? Thanks x

I always love these flowers - they bring me back to childhood since my dad always grew them. The colors are always gorgeous but the seed pods were fun too - I loved opening them to find all the tiny seeds inside(easily entertained at that age I guess!!!)
