Red belly by goosemanning

Red belly

Out for a walk with the family ans saw this Red Bellied Black Snake curled up in the undergrowth. Surprisingly he didn't slither off but just watched us lazily. We kept our distance, as he is pretty venemous, and watched him for a while before finally leaving him in piece.
That's a scary snake. Very brave of you to hang around for a photo!

I'm petrified of snakes, but would like to capture one with my camera, I love the focus on his eye and the brilliant detail, and that red belly, amazing, congrats on keeping a steady hand while getting this image,

Thanks @shepherdmanswife @ness50 @onewing I did had my telephoto lens on but it was still pretty close. I think my kids would have live to take him home as a pet - arghh!

Sharon what a fab photo, great focus! When we had the brown snake in the house I was petrified, although the diamond python in the garden had lovely markings. Have a great trip, where are you heading to?

Thanks @elaine55 Brown snake in the house - yikes! We're heading back to the UK for Christmas. It's pretty cold there at the moment so thermals required!
