Cliche by graemestevens

Cliche

It's cold, wet, windy and miserable and I'm just not feeling inspired...so much so that I uploaded the wrong photo, so here's attempt two, and my gift to you...a cliche.
This is the Cape Egmont lighthouse at Pungarehu. So cold that I was only out of the car for the briefest of moments and even so became acutely aware of the exact location of my nipples.
I understand so much. I struggle a lot in the winter here in Canada. But now it's summer time and it's so hot that it's difficult too. Anyway, I love this cliché shot. For me it's not really cliché, it's more like a classic. Thanks to have share this great shot with us.

@daneau Thank you very much - I probably shouldn't complain too much, I'm almost certain that your winters are much worse than ours!

Sam
Repeat: Go to the morgue :)
July 3rd, 2014
@gigiflower LOL, Repeat: probably colder there!

I would love to have this cliche close enough to gift you with even once let alone a regular opportunity! :) Sorry it's cold there. Glad you still have nips. This is outstanding. Thanks for freezing for the betterment of your hobby craft!

Awesome shot!
One thing I enjoy the least from Minnesota is the crazy weather. It gets as hot as 104"F in the summer and as cold as -41"F in the winter with 24 inches of snow, we can see all four weather stations in one week :D

Fabulous composition and clouds. The B&W makes it feel cold! It might be a bit cliche, but that's only because everyone loves to look at and photograph Lighthouses! Fav!

That's an awesome image, Graeme. I have a love for lighthouses, and it's okay to touch, err be in to touch with one's nipples.

@voiceprintz thanks very much - I'm sure we'll live through winter!
@d_lopes Thanks very much - I know we expect winter to be cold, but for some reason it always takes us by surprise!
@eyeamlisa Thank you very much indeed :)
@bigugly Thanks very much, but is it okay to sit in the car rubbing the feeling back into them?

Nice processing and I like the layer of rock next to the layer of sky

You've successfully captured the cold feeling Graeme. The image is wonderfully gloomy and stark.
July 3rd, 2014
Sorry, fav too.
July 3rd, 2014
very moody, love it!
July 3rd, 2014
Brilliant shot - appreciate your sacrifice for the cause :)
July 3rd, 2014
That's a lovely shot, so intense and dramatic - worth the discomfort I hope?
July 3rd, 2014
My word, cold???. Can I rub it in and say we had another cracker of a warm sunny winters day, a little ice to begin though. Love the drama of this image. Ahhhh sunny Qld :-)
July 3rd, 2014
love the starkness

I love a lighthouse - cliche or not - some things are best kept to yourself - of course the state of your nipples isn't one of them - hahahahaha
July 3rd, 2014
@deliad Thanks very much - we have a good dumping of snow on the mountain and ranges by all accounts. I'd know for sure if the cloud would clear...
@wenbow Thanks very much
@shepherdmanswife Thank you, much appreciated
@chippy1402 Thanks, Cape Egmont isn't the friendliest of places...

@brigette Thanks very much, that's pretty much Cape Egmont in a nutshell!
@graemestevens I'm pleased you like it. As for ones nipples, I felt like I was smuggling chair legs...

A dreadful cold front is to hit us tonight or tomorrow, so not looking forward to it. Fabulous image, even with frozen nipples and all!!!

Great scene, love the composition. I also like hearing that it's cold elsewhere in the world, makes me feel warm in the meagre British summer ;-)
