Staff Meeting by graemestevens

Staff Meeting

In order for a meeting to be considered successful and effective in my chosen place of employment (I chose them and they're lucky to have me), we must first have a meeting about said meeting. This pre-meeting meeting invariably includes confabulation, obfuscation and the tabling of various movements, motions and motives. By the end of these meetings I'm usually in the frame of mind to "table a motion" of a completely different kind and, much like this photo, there always seems to be one "Grande Fromage" who thinks they can strut in when the mood takes them and assume control of the group. Enough I say!
This is also SOOC and from a fair distance. It was bleedin' cold too.
Really cool shot and great title

@je77rey Thanks very much - I was going to go with "Camp Commandant" because of that big fella throwing his weight around, but after my morning Staff Meeting seemed like a better option!
August 4th, 2014
they do like to patrol and throw their weight around those black backed gulls
August 4th, 2014
@kali66 He had a very definite strut going on. All he needed was a cane tucked under one wing and a monocle...
August 4th, 2014
Great capture, one hell of a meeting going on lol
August 4th, 2014
very fun! :)
August 4th, 2014
well he really is a bit of a hunk and has a very important strut happening - if I were the bird in front I would be tempted to *accidentally* stick out my foot hahahahahaha
btw like this a lot very stunning light

It's been 13 years since I retired... are you seriously telling me that no progress has been made since then? We-ell, I'm gobsmacked, completely astonished... I was sure that modern business would run on highly oiled wheels and, and, and ... oh crap, will people never learn?
August 4th, 2014
And if I was one of them, I don't think I would be arguing with him. I would be letting him do what he damn well wants. And well done with the description sir, I enjoy it when you employ your skills as a wordsmith! :)
August 4th, 2014
Ha great shot.... there is always a bossy one in every group....
August 4th, 2014
Great shot.
August 4th, 2014
nice twist with the title! I like to bright white on the birds and the blue water
August 4th, 2014
@shawnasays Thanks very much - I was desperate for them all to take flight just for a chaos shot!
@voiceprintz Thanks very much :)
@annied Thanks very much indeed...its a whole new style for me! AAAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!
@vignouse Apparently not! Some managers in my corporate world even employ the term "Blue Sky Thinking" which just makes me want to throttle them!
@tomtom Thank you very much kind sir!
@julzmaioro Thanks very much. He just came waltzing on through the group...
@rustymonkey Thanks very much:)
@eyeamlisa Thanks very much - I considered (briefly) setting one of them on fire....
August 4th, 2014
So matches the title perfectly. Pretty reflections
August 4th, 2014
@graemestevens I had to wait until I'd stopped laughing before I could key in any comment Graeme. I love the shot, very well captured indeed, but the contextual comment takes the cake, or should that be 'cheese'?
August 4th, 2014
So funny, don't miss working in groups. Love the blue in this!
August 4th, 2014
Ha! You made me laugh out loud! Great representation, and very cool capture!
August 4th, 2014
Love it. And you are sooooooooo right.
August 4th, 2014
How true all these words are - I will have to fav it - not so much because the photograph is exceptional, but because I may need to refer to it again sometime after a meeting…. fav
August 4th, 2014
I can image the chatter and hullabaloo ( a word that's not used enough in my opinion ) as one suggests an actual useful motion followed by the never ending sub committee meetings.
August 4th, 2014
Great shot. Great commentary. Have a great day.
August 4th, 2014
A meeting about a meeting! we have that.

great shot it really compliments your words.
August 4th, 2014
Sam
Goodness me, this is my life at work. Except my boss is located in Singapore and I feel his strut every time we speak over the phone HAHAH
August 4th, 2014
@livvy Thanks very much :)
@golftragic Thanks very much, pleased to have made someone laugh today!
@jess1204 Thanks very much - it doesn't happen to me often but I detest it when it does!
@tabarlett Thanks very much :)
@jules13 Thanks very much :)
@dide Thanks, much appreciated :)
@chippy1402 Hullabaloo is an exceptional word and should be used much more often - and the debate over any motion is enough to make me consider murder as a viable alternative to Item 4 on any agenda...
@newbank Thank you. Thank you. And you too :)
@andrewkru Thanks very much indeed...I really "enjoy" meeting meetings...
@gigiflower Mine too...my direct boss is in Auckland and he's okay, but there's another "superior" in Auckland who really does believe himself superior to everyone and really knows how to strut it out. Never trust anyone who goes "tanned" (orange) in the winter in my humble opinion.
August 4th, 2014
eye goes straight to the bossy one! great capture!
August 4th, 2014
Super capture. Ha, staff meetings BOOHOO. No more for me YAHOOOOO :-)))

August 4th, 2014
cool colours and composition in this
August 4th, 2014
So you work with a bunch of birds........!!! Lovely well timed capture - love the blue!
August 4th, 2014
Love it! lol I thought you were the head cheese! :)
August 4th, 2014
Super title, you really made me smile. Gosh, we do waste so much time with the bla bla part of life don't we. Love the bossy bird in your shot and his attitude. Really like the crop too.
August 4th, 2014
Super capture. Fav.especially for the narrative
August 4th, 2014
Great shot, great title! Love it
August 4th, 2014
Great lighting and tale
August 4th, 2014

August 4th, 2014
@brigette Thanks very much :)
@hermann Thanks, and lucky you!!!
@lilminimonka Thanks very much...completely fluked ;)
@shannejw Thanks again :)
@lynnilou Sure do, and I keep getting covered in droppings!!!
@creativefool Thanks - I'm nowhere near the head cheese. I think I have too much respect for myself ;)
@happysnap Thanks very much - we spend about a day in total every week on the bla bla part at work...and get no further...
@bill_fe Thanks very much, appreciated
@roseolivia Thank you very much :)
@wearing0 Thanks very much :)
@jaynspain Well, he thought he was, and thanks very much
August 4th, 2014
MADE ME SMILE
August 4th, 2014
Completely humorous narrative to go with the well framed image!
August 4th, 2014
@pittcj17 Good, we all need to do that every now and then. My face hurst when I do, but I'm sure I'll get used to it :)
@jyokota Thanks very much ;)
August 4th, 2014
Great description of a typical day in my workplace too... Lovely capture :)
August 4th, 2014
@graemestevens hahaha I just saw your don't trust the 'orange' in winter - I don't trust it in summer either - but then rightly or wrongly I am a sun worshipper and believe that any change in pigment should come from there - not a bottle or spray can lol
August 5th, 2014
@anne_k Thanks very much...it happens far to often!
@annied Likewise, although I have tendency to burn, go bright red, peel and be back to square one...natural light hurts me too...
August 5th, 2014
@graemestevens well it is a known fact that vampires, devils, demons and such do not cope well with the light - creatures of the dark have their limitations like the rest
August 5th, 2014
@annied Go on then, tell everyone my horrible little secret!!! ;)
August 5th, 2014
Ah the shore...super place to go. Lucky. Great bird catch!
August 5th, 2014
@amandal Thanks very much
August 5th, 2014
@graemestevens ooops - haha although I wouldn't call it horrible :)
August 5th, 2014
@annied The fact that I was spawned rather than born tends to put most people off
August 5th, 2014
@graemestevens oh - well I am fine with that - i tend to trust the spawned more - you know the old better the devil you know hahahaha
August 5th, 2014
@annied Good point but less of the "old" thank you.
August 5th, 2014
@graemestevens hahaha oh yes - young man - I am way older than you lol
August 5th, 2014
@annied I'm leaving that one well and truly alone ;)
August 5th, 2014
@graemestevens oh - I am not one of those that gets offended easily - particularly about age - I often forget how old I am
August 5th, 2014
@annied You only forget because you're old. Oops...
August 5th, 2014
@graemestevens hahahahaha sadly it is so true
August 5th, 2014
@annied Snigger...The only comfort I can take is that I'll never catch up... ;)
August 5th, 2014
@graemestevens well if I cark it first you may surpass me and I will snigger from beyond
August 5th, 2014
@annied oooh, a ghostly snigger even...
August 5th, 2014
Fabulous capture and title great reflections too love it fav
August 5th, 2014
@tracelee Thank you so much :)
August 5th, 2014
My brain is short circuiting, there's no hope, we're all trapped in this spiral, helllllpppppp!
August 5th, 2014
So true and great shot
August 5th, 2014
@ceilidh LOL, you can make it through!
@dougapic thanks very much.
August 5th, 2014
Beautiful shot....and, great sentiment....and, I would be ready to kill someone if I was working anywhere near your place of employment!
August 6th, 2014
@panthora Thanks very much...I genuinely enjoy my job but there are days when it goes a long way toward explaining some of my shots...
August 6th, 2014
Super fun pic!
August 6th, 2014
@sassyinma Thanks very much :)
