I was a little bit early for my first appointment of the day at a nearby chemical plant, so I headed down to the beach with the intention of some more "bird type" shots, but as luck would have it the surf was respectable and a lot of the local surfer types were out injuring themselves. This was the best that my paltry 300mm lens could do, and my feelings of inadequacy weren't helped when another photographer arrived and set up with a mammoth monstrosity of a lens right next to me...it may or may not be in a thousand pieces on the beach as I type. I can neither confirm nor deny and no fingerprints were left behind...if anything actually happened.
Slowly growing fonder of Lightroom and the small amount that I know how to use thus far.
Quite spiffing when viewed on black, what what.
I am a confirmed and certifiable nutbar with a penchant for skulls, bones, blood, guts, fire and anything slightly peculiar and mostly bizarre. I also...
I think this is a perfect composition - I want to see what he's doing, not be able to count his nose hairs. And you're not practised at this sort of shot so the result is doubly creditable.
Lens envy. I get that when another parent sets up at the concerts, plays, whatever. A little violence is ok. Keeps things interesting. Love this on the black and of course the shot is gorgeous. Something we never see here!
@voiceprintz Thanks very much - we have people descending on our house this evening for a joint Birthday celebration...I'm finishing work early to go and do some serious, no holds barred imbibing.
Spiffing indeed Graeme....reminds me of the surfers at Raglan near where my son lives. You have caught the action & movement beautifully. I have lens envy all the time......I am wanting a new lens but bought boots instead! Fave for me,
Good capture with your long lens! I had the same experience in Hawaii back in January. Mine was so small compared to the pro photographer next to me on the beach but I still got some respectable shots.
@spanner Thanks very much...wonder if they'll pay for it... @happypat Raglan area is lovely...I keep buying other things too! And thank you very much. @ukandie1 Thanks very much :) @redy4et Thanks very much - the comforting thing was that she asked me how use a tripod...bizarre to have all that flash kit and not be able to set up a tripod... @jaynspain Thank you very much :) @shannejw Thanks very much...need to get outdoors more!
I am now green again. I only have 14-42mm lens. My compact is broken. I am feeling v v v v v v restricted. Be grateful for 300mm that would be AMAZING. And you have a mac and Lightroom.....great shot btw. How was the party?
@golftragic Thanks very much :) @achoris Wow, thanks very much @annied I do know what you mean, and thank you very much @andrewkru Thanks very much...it was a she, so couldn't possibly comment ;) @newbank Thanks very much, I think I may be slightly squiffy @jess1204 Thank you very much @deliad Thanks very much :) @ounooi Thanks, appreciated :)
Technically superb! Nothing to do with the kit - it's the operator! I couldn't achieve that with my 400mm lens - my skills are not up to it! So it's your skills, not anyone else's lenses, that I envy! Fav!
@gigiflower Thank you very much kind lady, your visits and comments are always appreciated and anticipated :) @pusspup Thanks very much indeed @bill_fe If I said yes would you believe me? It's only about 3 or 4 minutes from home if that helps... @hermann Thanks very much...I'm just a jealous guy ;) @lilminimonka Thanks very much indeed :) @blueberry1222 We're pretty luck here :) @redpants Thanks very much - I know I'm supposed to play nice but I never do ;) @nookie72 Thanks very much :) @ceilidh Thanks very much - and it wasn't me officer, honestly! @pinkpaintpot Thanks very much :) @neatz Thanks very much indeed @wearing0 Thank you very much, appreciated @amandal Thank you kindly - not my birthday until Thursday, we just celebrated early as our friends, whose birthday I share were going away... @yrhenwr Thank you very, very much...much appreciated @karlow75 Thanks, and for the follow...the expert lens may not be needed but it doesn't mean I still don't want it :))
Fav for this great shot and happy birthday to you Graeme. Sorry I couldn't make it to your party arranged by @newbank but sending good wishes instead. Have a good one!
@harbie Thanks very much...not my actual birthday until Thursday, we just happened to have to have a shared celebration with a friend last night before they went away! @tellefella Definitely, break out the board shorts as well - and thanks very much
Good surf shot Graeme. I had lens envy also the other day at Snapper Rocks. The best was some dude with a 500mm lens hooked up to a 2 times converter. reckoned he could see their nostril hairs.
Ah, I should hire you to come get my first surfing lesson in Bali when I turn 50.5 in June next! It's my bucket list item. :) I know what you mean about the lens... I'm ready to get something much better, just what?
@terryliv Thanks very much - I just don't know who they think they are turning up with bigger lenses! @darylo My daughter could teach you, she's a surf bunny...as for the lens, that is the question...
@kt8ird Thanks very much - I still need more lenses!!!
@pamknowler Thanks very much - by the look of the kit the lottery had already been won!
I'm having a rest as well...one glass down - time to pour another.
@happypat Raglan area is lovely...I keep buying other things too! And thank you very much.
