It gets me out of the office, away from the petty politics, infighting, arrogance, stupidity and pettiness. I cannot bring myself to buy in to that sort of behaviour - I genuinely enjoy my job but recently things have taken a turn. Luckily for me I have the freedom to come and go as I please, and today I had to go. As I pleased. With a flounce and wiggle of my gloriously tight buttocks as I left the building to seek more calming influences. No alcohol was to be found at 10am, so here I am on the beach again, watching seagulls squabble and squawk incessantly, which made more sense than just one colleague making all the noise. I feel a gruesome murder coming on...probably of whoever left those footprints on MY beach!
I am a confirmed and certifiable nutbar with a penchant for skulls, bones, blood, guts, fire and anything slightly peculiar and mostly bizarre. I also...
I love craggy rocks and ocean spray. I have to travel several hours in either direction to get to an ocean. I'm glad it's a much closer trip for you to find peace and inner calm. I really like this...a lot. btw, I see something has mucked up your picture-perfect sand again. Must be difficu...oh hell. Just enjoy the view!
Beautiful shot, and such a soul soothing place.....I totally understand the need to get away from all the madness of the world around us and escape to a quiet beach. Hope the petty squabbling at the office ceases, or I might be hearing about a gruesome murder case on the news....and, we have plenty of those around here! Peace....
@rangerxenos Thank you very much - I have 5 beaches to choose from locally...it's a hard life ;) @ukandie1 Thank you very much :) @panthora I'm all cool, calm and collected now...no need to panic. Until tomorrow anyway ;) And thank you very much. @voiceprintz If I ever find who left those tracks there will be hell to pay! And thank you very much :) @kt8ird Thanks very much, and it did - I'm all collected and calm again. @eyeamlisa Thanks very much, appreciated as always
Like you, I can't stand that kind of petty behaviour or any form/s of sand-pit politics. I just don't do stupidity and small-minded!! But what a wonderfully peaceful and solitary spot to soothe the soul you've found with that beach. Love the shot Graeme, and it's gotta be a fav.
Five beaches! An embarrassment of riches. This is beautiful. The chocolate brown sand and rocks have wonderful textures. Lovely. Hoping you get a breather from the hot-box of the office.
@amyleewinfield I like birds, preferably cooked, but these will do at a pinch ;) Thanks very much! @rosiekerr We're certainly spoiled for choice, and thanks very much :)
@graemestevens I can empathise with you totally, I used to do that too. like you I had a fair bit of flexibility about where I was working. My back-yard or the golf course/driving range were my refuges from work insanity.
@golftragic Sometimes it's wise to just walk away...especially with a mouth like mine that often spews forth obscenities before I've even thought of them.
What a stunning place to run from office -I wish I had that choice! There´s alcohol sold in this country from 9.00am onwards but no beaches like this, so dang you can´t win all the time:) Love the shot!
@gigiflower Awwww...are you missing my "usual"? @orangecrush Thanks very much indeed:) @dide Thank you very much :) @julzmaioro You're not wrong, it certainly worked today...when I should have been working ;) And thank you very much @julzmaioro It certainly is :) @peonylane Thank you very much :) @susale You can buy alcohol anytime over here as well, but I'd just had a coffee :) and thanks very much
I identify with your narrative, walked out the door of my workplace nearly 12 months ago, on extended leave until Monday when I returned my uniforms, ID badge and letter of resignation with a flourish I might add. A big WHAHOO and NO regrets. Funny how one unkind comment in a what was a highly stressful occupation can just tip you over the edge. Lucky for me , retirement was an option. Great shot BTW :)
@lisatown I might just "pretend murder" someone ;) And thanks very much :) @newbank I'm sure it will get better...and as for you despoiling my beach, retribution shall be mine ;) @aecasey Thanks very much - we have a lot of beaches around here to choose from, but I think this is my favourite. It seems to have the most mood swings and is truly impressive in rough weather (my favourite time to visit) @andrewkru I'll pas that on to Mother Nature - she'll be delighted ;) @hermann Thanks very much - the trouble is I genuinely enjoy my job, it's just difficult at the moment as one person has managed to make it a bit of a bastard really. I'm sure it will get better...although I wish retirement was an option!
@graemestevens exactly - oh and is it normal or disturbing that the bit I got from your narrative was the chance of gruesome murder rather than the flouncing and tight buttocks?????
@annied I think it's quite normal. Some people seem to be missing my "usual" shots. I might have it succumb to the pressure and do something unusual soon.
@graemestevens I know that feeling - I do not take on some of the lengthy terms at the school I casual at knowing if I did I would want to maim kill and destroy certain people
@annied I always want to maim and destroy. It gets me through the day. And right now I am going to beg your pardon and sign off...we're child free tonight as she's staying at a friends house! Whoop whoop! Have a most excellent evening nice lady.
Love the shot, understand the frustration. When I worked full time I decide to retire rather than put up with the b******t. So I handed my notice in from a job I loved. Then the b*** got promotion! Murder was in my mind!
Every day I am more grateful that I don't work in an office anymore. Being surrounded by noisy and loving kids is much better than being surrounded by bitchy colleagues! Love your pov - the bird flying into frame just finishes it off!
Another stunner Graeme - lets hope you don't feel the need to do anything to anyone. Why does there need to be office politics - what does it achieve? Why don't people just get on with what they are paid to do! Do not get me started. I work in academia and believe me, the academic ego is huge, and the urge to argue their beliefs... ho hum ...
I totally agree with your perspective...just hope it doesn't drive your stress too high and cause a heart attack....;~) Working in the government politics is present at all levels...even parking spaces and where you sit in a meeting! So very silly when there's sights such as this to go and capture. Beautiful shot Graeme...and thanks for the reminder to just take it slow and enjoy what we have away from work.
@creativefool Thanks very much :) @ceilidh That seems to be the way it works here as well...there's a very definite "boys club" going on and if you're over 40 you're not in it! @annied I did :) Hope you did too... @spanner Thanks very much @lynnilou Thanks very much - I'm lucky I can wander off when I please! @dibzgreasley Thanks very much. The politics achieve nothing...I just happen to have an office there but most of my time is spent out and about which if am forever thankful for @tasian Thanks very much - I have no plans to have a heart attack...but the politics drive me up the wall some days, it's just best to walk away @pinkpaintpot Thanks very much...they'd better not do it again! @blueberry1222 Thanks very much :)
@overalvandaan The beach is always better, and thank you very much @tellefella Thanks very much - it's a lovely spot, my favourite beach @pammerritt Thanks very much indeed :)
Lucky you that you can flock to the beach when things get hairy! Me? The best place I can get to is the pseudo-football field outside my workplace (school) or the school bus parking lot . . . thrillingly exhilarating! Alas, I can live vicariously though my New Zealand friend!
Never having worked in an office I thankfully have no experience but can imagine there would always be someone you could murder....the human race can be vile sometimes! I can feel your pressure building to a gory photo on the horizon!!
Fabulous photo....the greens & turquoise of your seas are one of the defining memories of your country.
@happypat Thanks very much - one of "those" photos may not be too far away. We shall see. @annied Nothing wrong with that either - I know my mind never stays in one place for long!
@ukandie1 Thank you very much :)
@panthora I'm all cool, calm and collected now...no need to panic. Until tomorrow anyway ;) And thank you very much.

@lilminimonka Thanks very much :)

oh dear
@annied There's nothing wrong with an aimless wander every now and then
Fabulous photo....the greens & turquoise of your seas are one of the defining memories of your country.
