On the Beach by graemestevens

On the Beach

It gets me out of the office, away from the petty politics, infighting, arrogance, stupidity and pettiness. I cannot bring myself to buy in to that sort of behaviour - I genuinely enjoy my job but recently things have taken a turn. Luckily for me I have the freedom to come and go as I please, and today I had to go. As I pleased. With a flounce and wiggle of my gloriously tight buttocks as I left the building to seek more calming influences. No alcohol was to be found at 10am, so here I am on the beach again, watching seagulls squabble and squawk incessantly, which made more sense than just one colleague making all the noise. I feel a gruesome murder coming on...probably of whoever left those footprints on MY beach!
I think this is a perfectly gorgeous place to "unwind" against the noise!! Super capture...I could live on the beach!!

@nanderson Thanks very much indeed - it did wonders for my temperament this morning, but alas I have to go back to the office for a meeting!
October 2nd, 2014
Gorgeous shot!
October 2nd, 2014
Gorgeous photo. Love the beach with the rocks and the scenery, including the bird, in the background. I hope it provides some solace from office life.
October 2nd, 2014
I love craggy rocks and ocean spray. I have to travel several hours in either direction to get to an ocean. I'm glad it's a much closer trip for you to find peace and inner calm. I really like this...a lot. btw, I see something has mucked up your picture-perfect sand again. Must be difficu...oh hell. Just enjoy the view!
October 2nd, 2014
Beautiful shot, and such a soul soothing place.....I totally understand the need to get away from all the madness of the world around us and escape to a quiet beach. Hope the petty squabbling at the office ceases, or I might be hearing about a gruesome murder case on the news....and, we have plenty of those around here! Peace....
October 2nd, 2014
Fantastic shot!
October 2nd, 2014
Great shot -- I've also taken to wandering out with the camera during lunch lately, I wish I were close to a beach!
October 2nd, 2014
@rangerxenos Thank you very much - I have 5 beaches to choose from locally...it's a hard life ;)
@ukandie1 Thank you very much :)
@panthora I'm all cool, calm and collected now...no need to panic. Until tomorrow anyway ;) And thank you very much.
@voiceprintz If I ever find who left those tracks there will be hell to pay! And thank you very much :)
@kt8ird Thanks very much, and it did - I'm all collected and calm again.
@eyeamlisa Thanks very much, appreciated as always
October 2nd, 2014
Like you, I can't stand that kind of petty behaviour or any form/s of sand-pit politics. I just don't do stupidity and small-minded!! But what a wonderfully peaceful and solitary spot to soothe the soul you've found with that beach. Love the shot Graeme, and it's gotta be a fav.
October 2nd, 2014
@golftragic Thank you very much - It's my "go to" when I need space from work.
October 2nd, 2014
Lovely serenity here... So sorry to hear about the politics - but lucky you to be able to escape and to have such a glorious spot to escape to...
October 2nd, 2014
@graemestevens I can totally relate to your story :)
October 2nd, 2014
@northy Thanks very much - I seem to end up here at least 5 times a week, which corresponds nicely with how many days I spend at work ;)
October 2nd, 2014
Though I can't feel too bad for you if you have such a lovely beach nearby :)
October 2nd, 2014
@lambda There is that point of view... ;)
October 2nd, 2014
beautiful colors
October 2nd, 2014
@hippiechick13 Thanks very much - I'll pass that on to Mother Nature ;)
October 2nd, 2014
fantastic capture of such a start to your day! birds always make more sense, the rest tends to be filling x
October 2nd, 2014
Five beaches! An embarrassment of riches. This is beautiful. The chocolate brown sand and rocks have wonderful textures. Lovely. Hoping you get a breather from the hot-box of the office.
October 2nd, 2014
@amyleewinfield I like birds, preferably cooked, but these will do at a pinch ;) Thanks very much!
@rosiekerr We're certainly spoiled for choice, and thanks very much :)
October 2nd, 2014
Love the composition and the color! Did you do special processing?
October 2nd, 2014
@redy4et Thanks very much - all I did was increase the contrast marginally and a tiny little bit on the white as well, other than that it's "as is"
October 2nd, 2014
@graemestevens I can empathise with you totally, I used to do that too. like you I had a fair bit of flexibility about where I was working. My back-yard or the golf course/driving range were my refuges from work insanity.
October 2nd, 2014
@golftragic Sometimes it's wise to just walk away...especially with a mouth like mine that often spews forth obscenities before I've even thought of them.
October 2nd, 2014
Sam
I can only hope that your white rage increases to the point of murder and we see some fire, knives and death soon!!! No corsets please :)
October 2nd, 2014
Awesome shot! Love the moss on those rocks!
October 2nd, 2014
A nice place to have the wind blow away all those negative feelings! Your photo is lovely.
October 2nd, 2014
Walk on the beach is the best therapy...
October 2nd, 2014
Stunning shot and instant FAV for me. Such a moody shot.
October 2nd, 2014
What a stunning place to run from office -I wish I had that choice! There´s alcohol sold in this country from 9.00am onwards but no beaches like this, so dang you can´t win all the time:) Love the shot!
October 2nd, 2014
@gigiflower Awwww...are you missing my "usual"?
@orangecrush Thanks very much indeed:)
@dide Thank you very much :)
@julzmaioro You're not wrong, it certainly worked today...when I should have been working ;) And thank you very much
@julzmaioro It certainly is :)
@peonylane Thank you very much :)
@susale You can buy alcohol anytime over here as well, but I'd just had a coffee :) and thanks very much
October 2nd, 2014
If you really murder someone... Don't Post Photos on the INterWeBs! You'll get caught and they'll throw your tight buttocks in Jail... We'd miss you!

Lovely Beach scene! :)
October 2nd, 2014
Sorry to hear work still not at it's best. Rubbish. They are my footprints I'm afraid...... Sorry.
October 2nd, 2014
I love your pov ... I haven't visited a beach in decades and that sand looks so inviting. Wonderful colors....
October 2nd, 2014
what a beautiful beach.
October 2nd, 2014
I identify with your narrative, walked out the door of my workplace nearly 12 months ago, on extended leave until Monday when I returned my uniforms, ID badge and letter of resignation with a flourish I might add. A big WHAHOO and NO regrets. Funny how one unkind comment in a what was a highly stressful occupation can just tip you over the edge. Lucky for me , retirement was an option. Great shot BTW :)
October 2nd, 2014
peaceful and atmospheric capture. Your narrative has reminded me of how much I loved my job but hated the politics. Retirement is great!
October 2nd, 2014
wonderfully told and captured - let those murderous thoughts fester and boil
October 2nd, 2014
@lisatown I might just "pretend murder" someone ;) And thanks very much :)
@newbank I'm sure it will get better...and as for you despoiling my beach, retribution shall be mine ;)
@aecasey Thanks very much - we have a lot of beaches around here to choose from, but I think this is my favourite. It seems to have the most mood swings and is truly impressive in rough weather (my favourite time to visit)
@andrewkru I'll pas that on to Mother Nature - she'll be delighted ;)
@hermann Thanks very much - the trouble is I genuinely enjoy my job, it's just difficult at the moment as one person has managed to make it a bit of a bastard really. I'm sure it will get better...although I wish retirement was an option!
October 2nd, 2014
@thistle I wish I could say the same, and thank you very much
@annied Thank you most kindly nice lady (as opposed to laydee), very much appreciated :)
October 2nd, 2014
Im very very scared of you mr pussy cat.
October 2nd, 2014
Ah, how beautiful! Such a wonderful photograph!
October 2nd, 2014
@newbank A scratch behind the ear and I'm anyone's ;)
@lilminimonka Thanks very much :)
October 2nd, 2014
@graemestevens @newbank you're welcome and obviously easy to please
October 2nd, 2014
@annied Oh I'm easy alright...
October 2nd, 2014
Glad you pointed out the dog's footprints - no murder needed! "Flouncing and wiggling' are words which induce a certain feeling into this beach scene!
October 2nd, 2014
@graemestevens hahahahahha don't spread that around - or yourself for that matter - never know what you might catch
October 2nd, 2014
@maggiemae I always flounce when I'm having one of my moments...
October 2nd, 2014
@annied Sodomy and Gonorrhoea
October 2nd, 2014
Lovely shot and I like the POV.
October 2nd, 2014
@ounooi Thank you very much, appreciated
October 2nd, 2014
@graemestevens exactly - oh and is it normal or disturbing that the bit I got from your narrative was the chance of gruesome murder rather than the flouncing and tight buttocks?????
October 2nd, 2014
@annied I think it's quite normal. Some people seem to be missing my "usual" shots. I might have it succumb to the pressure and do something unusual soon.
October 2nd, 2014
@graemestevens I do love a bit of unusual hahahahaha
October 2nd, 2014
@graemestevens that's not to say I don't enjoy your usual either - you are very good at both
October 2nd, 2014
@annied It's okay, I was close to snapping anyway :))
October 2nd, 2014
@graemestevens I know that feeling - I do not take on some of the lengthy terms at the school I casual at knowing if I did I would want to maim kill and destroy certain people
October 2nd, 2014
@annied I always want to maim and destroy. It gets me through the day. And right now I am going to beg your pardon and sign off...we're child free tonight as she's staying at a friends house! Whoop whoop! Have a most excellent evening nice lady.
October 2nd, 2014
Gorgeous! :)
October 2nd, 2014
Love the shot, understand the frustration. When I worked full time I decide to retire rather than put up with the b******t. So I handed my notice in from a job I loved. Then the b*** got promotion! Murder was in my mind!
October 2nd, 2014
@graemestevens and you have an excellent evening also :)
October 2nd, 2014
Nice capture.
October 2nd, 2014
Every day I am more grateful that I don't work in an office anymore. Being surrounded by noisy and loving kids is much better than being surrounded by bitchy colleagues! Love your pov - the bird flying into frame just finishes it off!
October 2nd, 2014
Another stunner Graeme - lets hope you don't feel the need to do anything to anyone. Why does there need to be office politics - what does it achieve? Why don't people just get on with what they are paid to do! Do not get me started. I work in academia and believe me, the academic ego is huge, and the urge to argue their beliefs... ho hum ...
October 2nd, 2014
I totally agree with your perspective...just hope it doesn't drive your stress too high and cause a heart attack....;~) Working in the government politics is present at all levels...even parking spaces and where you sit in a meeting! So very silly when there's sights such as this to go and capture. Beautiful shot Graeme...and thanks for the reminder to just take it slow and enjoy what we have away from work.
October 2nd, 2014
whole composition including footprints (I don't know how they dare) great,
October 2nd, 2014
a very restful scene.
October 2nd, 2014
@creativefool Thanks very much :)
@ceilidh That seems to be the way it works here as well...there's a very definite "boys club" going on and if you're over 40 you're not in it!
@annied I did :) Hope you did too...
@spanner Thanks very much
@lynnilou Thanks very much - I'm lucky I can wander off when I please!
@dibzgreasley Thanks very much. The politics achieve nothing...I just happen to have an office there but most of my time is spent out and about which if am forever thankful for
@tasian Thanks very much - I have no plans to have a heart attack...but the politics drive me up the wall some days, it's just best to walk away
@pinkpaintpot Thanks very much...they'd better not do it again!
@blueberry1222 Thanks very much :)
October 2nd, 2014
Superb.
October 2nd, 2014
@andy3168 Thanks very much
October 2nd, 2014
Lovely beach
October 2nd, 2014
@neatz Except for the birds ;)
October 2nd, 2014
Nothing like the beach to calm one down. Fav, colors and composition are gorgeous.
October 2nd, 2014
@jess1204 Thanks very much - those birds are right behind me!
October 2nd, 2014
Great layers. B* to the politcs at work, beach is much better!
October 2nd, 2014
the attraction of water...looks like a great spot to explore
October 2nd, 2014
Pam
It looks like paradise! Great greens, and blues!
October 3rd, 2014
@overalvandaan The beach is always better, and thank you very much
@tellefella Thanks very much - it's a lovely spot, my favourite beach
@pammerritt Thanks very much indeed :)
October 3rd, 2014
Lucky you that you can flock to the beach when things get hairy! Me? The best place I can get to is the pseudo-football field outside my workplace (school) or the school bus parking lot . . . thrillingly exhilarating! Alas, I can live vicariously though my New Zealand friend!
October 3rd, 2014
@lbluejaye8 yes, but those damned bird are right behind me!
October 3rd, 2014
cacophony - heinous and I rather like perpetual for some strange reason hahahaha
October 3rd, 2014
@annied Perpetual is quite good, as is heinous. I'm a big fan of viscosity as well but I hardly ever get to use it.
October 3rd, 2014
@graemestevens well when you post a bloody image you could use viscosity - it should be used more I think
October 3rd, 2014
@annied That would mean actually taking a "bloody image"...
October 3rd, 2014
@graemestevens I am thinking how on earth did this end up on this thread - then realised it was me hahahahaha
oh dear
October 3rd, 2014
@graemestevens well durr ;-)
October 3rd, 2014
@annied It was you - I've been well aware of that since you started it. Stranger things have happened though. Just.
October 3rd, 2014
@graemestevens hmmmm obviously I am wandering around aimlessly
October 3rd, 2014
looks like you are spying.. which you probably are!!
October 3rd, 2014
@brigette Me? Never...
@annied There's nothing wrong with an aimless wander every now and then
October 3rd, 2014
Never having worked in an office I thankfully have no experience but can imagine there would always be someone you could murder....the human race can be vile sometimes! I can feel your pressure building to a gory photo on the horizon!!
Fabulous photo....the greens & turquoise of your seas are one of the defining memories of your country.
October 3rd, 2014
@graemestevens I think I do it on a regular basis hahahahaha
October 3rd, 2014
@happypat Thanks very much - one of "those" photos may not be too far away. We shall see.
@annied Nothing wrong with that either - I know my mind never stays in one place for long!
October 3rd, 2014
@graemestevens mine definitely doesn't - the kids at school often have a good laugh at my expense with the tangents I go off on hahahaha
October 3rd, 2014
@annied Yes...I can imagine. Mind you, if my mind was a railway it would be the switching yard.
October 3rd, 2014
@graemestevens ha ha I love that analogy - I can relate
this is me http://www.bforbel.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/thought.jpg
October 3rd, 2014
@annied LOL- Love that - works for me
October 3rd, 2014
@graemestevens me too hahahaha - it is happening at this very moment lol
October 3rd, 2014
@annied god hep us all - should I expect an epiphany of some sort?
October 3rd, 2014
@graemestevens oh the epiphanies only happen occasionally - maybe I am due for one LOL
October 3rd, 2014
@annied I'm due for something. And on that note I'm of for wine. Ta ta for now
October 3rd, 2014
Great POV and has a real dark mood to it. It's amazing how our feelings can get into our photos.
October 3rd, 2014
@leanne333 Thanks very much...my shots always have something dark about them... ;)
October 3rd, 2014
@graemestevens ha ha yes, I'm gathering that ;-)
October 3rd, 2014
@graemestevens Waiting for you to not see them . . .
October 3rd, 2014
@lbluejaye8 LOL, I'm sure...
October 3rd, 2014
Very nice landscape shot. I love the bird soaring over
October 4th, 2014
@maishanny Thanks very much indeed :)
October 4th, 2014
Love the POV on this.
October 7th, 2014
Love this! Fav!
October 8th, 2014
@sassyinma Thanks very much
@harbie Thank you again :)
