Waving by graemestevens

Waving

So...it's a been a bit wet and windy here for the last few days, but not enough to keep us indoors. Instead we've been down at the beach watching some little waves come in...on the down side my hair is a mess, my eyes are streaming and I'm a little bit cold around my sticky out bits.
This is amazing!

October 6th, 2014
Sam
Excellent capture of the crappy NZ weather :) FAV
October 6th, 2014
Holy cow! (says the American). Wonderful shot... sorry your "sticky out bits" are cold. This looks very menacing. Don't get too close.
October 6th, 2014
Standing next to Kim - I mean behind for protection - were you?
October 6th, 2014
Amazing shot. Well done!
October 6th, 2014
Wow, these waves are so amazing, I love a good storm!
October 6th, 2014
@gigiflower Thank you most kindly nice lady :)
@rosiekerr I took this from well back...and they're slowly warming up...
@annied I was in front actually. That can be verified of course.
@eyeamlisa Thanks very much :)
October 6th, 2014
@jess1204 Thanks very much, and so do I. Much happier in a storm than any other weather!
October 6th, 2014
Dramatic shot!
October 6th, 2014
@epcello Thanks very much :)
October 6th, 2014
hahha I know the feeling, its mighty cold and windy down here today, not sure I can brave it.. the sun will come out tomorrow...wont it?
October 6th, 2014
Amazing turbulent ocean, reminds me of the prints of lighthouses being bombarded by natures fury, fav for the ferocity :)
October 6th, 2014
@kali66 We can only live in hope. If it doesn't, I know where Jim Hickey lives...
@hermann Thanks very much - I know exactly the photo you mean :)
October 6th, 2014
Wow...this shot is stellar! Fav for me.
October 6th, 2014
Wow Graeme, love those little tiddler ripples. Are you going to hang around for the big ones? PS Try woollen undies.
October 6th, 2014
love this. thats a lot of power (needed in Auckland this weekend) in those waves. Great processing- are there colour layers - or is that my eyes playing tricks ?
October 6th, 2014
@graemestevens haha well done Mr S
October 6th, 2014
woah! pretty big waves! great shot and love it in b&w.
October 6th, 2014
Wow!
October 6th, 2014
Very dramatic!
October 6th, 2014
that is an angry sea! great shot love the crop.
October 6th, 2014
Glad to see braving the weather. Great shot. As for sticky out bits. I suggest either gloves or thermal underwear depending on which bits you are referring to....
October 6th, 2014
@newbank Thanks very much - I'll invest in some "gloves" tomorrow ;)
@andrewkru Thanks very much - it was slightly impressive
@susale Thanks very much
@shepherdmanswife Indeed ;)
@jaynspain Thanks very much...just an idea of the weather...this isn't B&W!
@annied Why, what did I do?
@brigette Thanks very much - no layers, just a slight tweak of exposure and shadows in Lightroom
@golftragic It was far too cold to hand around for more...and thank you very much. As for the woolen undies, I hate the way jersey scratch without wearing knitted undies as well!
@tasian Thank you very much indeed :)
October 6th, 2014
I love your descriptions - end up smiling which has to be good. I've got more sticky-out bits than you, I bet!
This is what I expected to have happen over in the East coast but where we were there was a Big Cape - doesn't belong to Superman - but it does put the sea into shelter. You have got a Number One! fav
October 6th, 2014
@maggiemae Thanks very much - its been blowing a gale for the last 3 days and no shelter here!
October 6th, 2014
@graemestevens hahahaha you stood in front to protect dear Kim from the worst of the weather - and if there was an ulterior motive - well you posted a pretty cool pic
October 6th, 2014
@annied I was about 20 metres down the break water from her, so a fat lot of good I am!
October 6th, 2014
What a fantastic dramatic shot. big waves.
October 6th, 2014
Great timing on this shot.
October 6th, 2014

October 6th, 2014
Very dramatic
October 6th, 2014
@deliad Thanks, it was a bit!
October 6th, 2014
@graemestevens well you are useless - lol - although I imagine Kim is quite capable of taking care of herself - she is married to you after all ;-)
October 6th, 2014
@annied More than capable. The amount of times I've taken a beating... ;)
October 6th, 2014
@graemestevens knew she was made of the right stuff lol
October 6th, 2014
@annied That she is - I've looked ;)
October 6th, 2014
@graemestevens glad you checked her out *raises eyes*
October 6th, 2014
@annied Whenever possible ;)
October 6th, 2014
Pam
Awesome shot!
October 6th, 2014
A bit scary really. I like to be tucked up safely indoors when the wind gets that active.
October 6th, 2014

October 6th, 2014
Frightening sea.....I would run a mile...impressive capture!
Time for the long johns?
October 6th, 2014
@neatz Thanks - it's still stormy as well, getting a little tired of it to be honest...
@happypat Thanks very much - I didn't even get slightly damp. I do have long johns but I bought them several years ago and they're designed for what was a smaller man ;)
October 6th, 2014
This is spectacular. It makes me sorry for myself having to stay in the office rather than out chasing the storms.
October 6th, 2014
@yaorenliu Thanks very much - I detest being office bound. It would drive me even more insane
October 6th, 2014

October 7th, 2014
That's impressive power! Fav.
October 7th, 2014
Wow. Is that hitting a concrete break water or some kind of barrier? Very cool!
October 7th, 2014
Wow look at that power!
October 7th, 2014
@tomtom Thank you very much
@lisatown Thanks - our port has two huge concrete breakwaters. This is the Lee Breakwater which no longer has public access. I can remember driving my car down to the end of it when I was about 16...naughty
@sassyinma Thanks - it was certainly impressive
October 7th, 2014
@graemestevens Thank Bacchus time hasn't tempered the naughty ... any more than that breakwater tempered the power of the water ;)
October 7th, 2014
@lisatown No...I'm still naughty on occasion ;)
October 8th, 2014
This is fantastic!! Fav!
October 8th, 2014
