Tractor. Somewhat obviously. by graemestevens

Tractor. Somewhat obviously.

Today, with the owners permission (shockingly) we ventured about 2 minutes from home to what can best be described as an apocalyptic junk yard of redundant, defunct and wrecked machinery. This was one of the more complete models "on display" and certainly the easiest to access - I now know where all of the rust in this town is stored and distributed from.
Best viewed on the black if you have either the inclination or time to do so.
Sam
You should have stolen the back tyre - it still has lots of tread on it :)

Some people have all the luck! Love the dripping rust pits above the "engine"! :)
February 8th, 2015
More please! :)

Haha, you need to come to here! In GA, "Old Car City," 34 acres of an automobile junk yard. You'd love it!!

It's always amazing to me how artistic old salvage can look once nature and the elements have run their course - and of course, it'll continue to change over time - so cool - great shot - I am however....surprised....you actually asked permission - where's the fun in that ;)
February 8th, 2015
Oh, how I love defunct. Nice shot.
February 8th, 2015
Wonderfully captured.

Jae
I love old tractors!
February 8th, 2015
Wonderful capture. I'm more amazed that you seemingly asked permission.
February 8th, 2015
love the pov and clarity... and the grunge... and of the course the black and white bits...
February 8th, 2015
wonderfully exposed and shot
February 8th, 2015
This is fun!
February 8th, 2015
@gigiflower It would look great on my car...a bit lop sided though
@juliedduncan Thanks very much...there's a couple more but it started to rain heavily :(
@darylo I would love it - there's a place here called Smash Palace, which is about the same size, but it's a good 4 hour drive
@deak68 We had to ask permission, the owners are the god parents of a good friend...otherwise I would have just jumped the fence...
@divast8er Defunct is my favourite state of being :)
@spanner Thanks very much :)
@lifepause I prefer old whisky but at a pinch a tractor will do ;)
@bigugly Thanks - given that it's in our neighbourhood I thought it prudent to do so... ;)
@northy Thank you kindly - slowly getting better at this processing lark
@trinda Thank you kindly :)
@voiceprintz Thank you very much :)

Great old workhorse, neat B&W :)
February 8th, 2015
beautiful machine and I love the b&w - I would love to see some of the rusty colour one day
February 8th, 2015
Excellent b&w, glad you found a cemetery, of sorts, to photograph. Good for you to get permission.
February 8th, 2015
Nice shot!
February 8th, 2015
I did not know rust is contagious.
February 8th, 2015
A veritable gold mine for photos no doubt. Love the detail in the engine of this.
February 8th, 2015
Looks like a beaut little Fergie tractor to me, but I love it whatever its surname is.
February 8th, 2015
@golftragic I've decided to call is Albert.
@dibzgreasley It certainly was...and then the heavens opened and the rain came down.
@yaorenliu It certainly is - highly contagious
@tabarlett Thanks very much :)
@kt8ird Thank you - I never knew it was just down the road
@annied Maybe one day - didn't get too many shots as it started raining. A lot.
@hermann Thanks very much indeed :)
February 8th, 2015
Love old junkyards, a photographer's playground!
February 8th, 2015
@aikiuser Yes indeed, and then it rains. And rains, And rains.
February 8th, 2015
@graemestevens may be baby - better be lol
February 8th, 2015
@annied There's one other decent one, so one day soon
February 8th, 2015
@graemestevens I lay in wait - ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaa
February 8th, 2015
not so much into tractors really - but i really like the clarity of the blacks and whites. Today i saw a skeleton at piha. Think it was a bird.. took a photo and was going to upload and tag you! but it just looked crappy.. so no skeleton from me!!
February 8th, 2015
@annied Of course you do, I expect nothing less
@brigette I'm very inspirationally challenged at the moment, I would have liked to see someone else's skeleton
February 8th, 2015
looks like it could still work to me....
February 8th, 2015
@graemestevens of course you don't - I expect
February 8th, 2015
Very strong b&w!! really like it!
February 8th, 2015
Loving the detail in this, Great B&W shot!
February 8th, 2015
nice shot. love a bit of rust :-)
February 8th, 2015
Seen better days ... and I could say the same about the tractor! :-) Nicely photographed
February 8th, 2015
great characterful shot.
February 8th, 2015
This almost a runner - nothing wrong there that a quick rubdown with an oily rag wouldn't fix.
February 8th, 2015
@newbank That's what I thought as well but apparently definitely not.
@annied Of course.
@nicoleterheide Thanks very much :)
@elishajae Thank you kindly :)
@jaynspain Thank you very much indeed
@yrhenwr Thanks...still completely uninspired
@pinkpaintpot Thanks very much
@vignouse It would be the only "almost" that the was - the rest was decidedly kaput
February 8th, 2015
Looks good, definitely suits B&W treatment.
February 8th, 2015
Harry couldn't believe it when he saw this photo! That is a little grey Fergie...petrol he thinks. Ferguson Tractors made these years ago &'they are very desirable over gphere. We have an old one but it's not grey but red which is a newer model but still vintage. I would go & buy it, do it up & sell it! Not sure what the demand in NZ would be though & too expensive to ship it to the UK! Must be destined for tractor graveyard!
February 8th, 2015
Love these car intestines
February 8th, 2015
@pools82 Thanks very much :)
@neatz Thanks very much...I wanted to get more but it started raining. A lot.
@happypat This ones very dead by all accounts - still, we could strip it down for parts
February 8th, 2015
Great capture Graeme, and I noticed the wire ropes under the Tractor, I used to splice these as part of my job.
February 8th, 2015
@tonygig Thanks very much - there are hundreds of metres of those ropes at this place. Unfortunately the heavens opened and neither I nor my camera are waterproof so there wasn't much time for many shots
February 8th, 2015
love this old fergie...great find
February 8th, 2015
@tellefella Thanks very much
February 8th, 2015
Nice!
February 8th, 2015
@bill_fe Thank you sir
February 9th, 2015
B & W suits this old tractor. To get these restored takes lots of work. We collected them and restored as a hobby in the past.
August 13th, 2015
@sdutoit Thank you very much - not a hobby for me I'm afraid, I have too much chocolate to be eaten ;)
