I do that all the time. When I met my husband I warned him that I have a tendency to break glasses for no reason. He thought it an odd thing to say, but he understands now....
Well the bottle is made of glass. So you are still having it out of a glass. Unless you have stooped down to cask wine and are drinking out of a goon bag (at least you have a pillow when you are finished:)

oh and as for workmanship - what is the world coming to when glass breaks so easily
@yrhenwr Thanks very much - these glasses cost us £1 each at Marks and Spencer's about 6 or 7 years ago so I'm highly offended that they should break so soon...
