Apocalypse by graemestevens

Apocalypse

This is the wreck of the Gairloch in coastal Taranaki, about a 15 minute drive from home. I've been waiting for this shot and, having judged the clouds to be "playing the game", could wait no longer.
The looks on the faces of other beach users was priceless.
I suspect this will be best viewed on black if you have the time.
Love this, Graeme! Fav.

Only have phone now but it looks like a monster already, big screen in the morning. Cinemascope sort of shot...
May 11th, 2015
This is brilliant.
May 11th, 2015
Yessssssss!
May 11th, 2015
Did you have to tell anyone to get out of the shot? I expect seeing you in your get-up would send them packing anyway! fav for the brilliant picture!
May 11th, 2015
So very glad the clouds played along with your plans. This is darkly awesome!
May 11th, 2015

May 11th, 2015
ah yes! most excellent enlarged and on black - I love the way you are dwarfed - but not - by the wreck - if that makes sense - and all the different lines and textures are fantabulous!
May 11th, 2015
Sensational
May 11th, 2015

May 11th, 2015
@graemestevens well that doesn't happen often - usually I get weird looks of confusion as if I speak a foreign language hahahahaha
May 11th, 2015
@annied I'm still sitting down and suffering from shock. You'll have to come back later.
May 11th, 2015

I had the time--fab on black; super cool image!
May 11th, 2015
@aikiuser Thank you very much :)
May 11th, 2015
Very very cool - fantastically haunting image. Probably best avoided after a few drinks...
May 11th, 2015
Fab on black (can I say "fab" - not sure but anyway...) always make the time!
May 11th, 2015
Sam
HAHAHA is that you wearing your gas mask? Brilliant!
May 11th, 2015
@alinz Of course you can say fab. Or super fab and groovy. Or any combination you want...and thanks very much
@anthonyt Thanks very much...I may have had a few before taking it ;)
@gigiflower Yep...finally ventured out in public with it ;)
May 11th, 2015
This is an awesome shot. It does get frustrating when the clouds don't cooperate.
May 11th, 2015
This got to be a FAV shot. I got to go there one day for this.
May 11th, 2015
@karlow75 I was on the verge of having serious words with them when they decided to cooperate ;)
@yaorenliu Thanks very much - appreciated
May 11th, 2015
The wait was worth it, awesomely dark.
May 11th, 2015
Cool capture :)
May 11th, 2015
Excellent
May 11th, 2015
So yes the larger screen allows me to see,,, you, I should think that your presence in public all masked up has an alarming effect, on the unaware . Or do they say to strangers ah that's our local nutter Graeme, he's really nice loves Dogs and skulls...
May 11th, 2015
Oh, you are rather magnificent at times! Fav
May 11th, 2015
Oh, this is brilliant!! Love the gas mask! And fun to imagine the audience watching you set this up!
May 11th, 2015
@jack4john nice ahhum - come on John be sensible now hahaha
May 11th, 2015
Awesome!
May 11th, 2015
@andy3168 Thank you very much - just what I was aiming for :)
@sjodell Thank you very much :)
@eyeamlisa Thank you kindly :)
@jack4john I believe the local council sends out warnings in advance of my excursions into the wider world...
@mothermalarky How nice of you to say ;) And thank you so much :)
@taffy There were a few odd looks, and thank you very much :)
@ukandie1 Thanks very much indeed :)
May 11th, 2015
Favtastic!:)
May 11th, 2015
Yay!! Excellent!
May 11th, 2015
@joemuli Thank you so much :)
@divast8er Thank you kindly :)
May 12th, 2015
It's a Fav... got to be done - dark, deep, mysterious... just perfect. Yoo should have asked Kim along for the ride to do a 'making-of' shot showing the reaction of the punters. I take it you got away before the police came?
May 12th, 2015
@vignouse Thank you sir - I managed to make a clean escape and only startled one trotting horse into a gallop. All in all a good day out.
May 12th, 2015
Holy cow, you are wearing a gas mask.... so awesome! Stretching my little laptop to its limits, I see you "avec acoutremont!" :) Very bold. On the photography side, judgement day is approaching and I had better make myself right with the higher powers. ;) Very dramatic.
May 12th, 2015
@rosiekerr Thank you kindly - I went out in public with it today as well, much tot he surprise of several people
May 12th, 2015
@graemestevens I am disappointed in their lack of imagination. The gas mask, as a fashion accessory... tomorrow's "de rigueur!"
May 12th, 2015
@rosiekerr Oh absolutely - so versatile!
May 12th, 2015
I would have loved to have seen their faces!
May 12th, 2015
Fav btw
May 12th, 2015
@shepherdmanswife Thank you kindly...dropped jaws seemed to be a common feature
May 12th, 2015
Wonderful. It has to be a Fav.
May 12th, 2015
@dh Thank you very much indeed :)
May 12th, 2015
Amazing construction of Apocalypse......you cracked it completely!
May 12th, 2015
@happypat Thanks very much :)
May 12th, 2015
Congratulations! You have captured the all pervasive but incredibly elusive figure of Death! Unless it as an Igor?
May 15th, 2015
@yrhenwr Just me on a good day I'm afraid - so sorry to disappoint ;)
