SOOC by graemestevens

SOOC

Day 2 of the One Night Stand challenge brings me to the most dreaded and feared category of all...SOOC. I'm having conniptions about posting this because now you can all see just how heavily I rely on Lightroom to come up with anything approaching usefulness...
With that in mind, my fingers were twitching and my mind racing, so you can see the processed version here:

You look far less menacing in the color version. :)

Disturbing it is.
November 9th, 2015
@epcello I don't like it :( I want to stay scary.
@mastermek It's shockingly awful when I don't edit, and not much better when I do
November 9th, 2015
Creepy either way in my opinion. What a wonderful exercise to go through: easy to say as my sooc is another 12 hours away. I do love to edit ;)
November 9th, 2015
I'm the same editing is part of the whole thing, I see enough reality. Given a free hand the world would look a whole lot different. But of course I'm only in kindergarten compared to you..
November 9th, 2015
@kategoring Thanks - it is an interesting exercise but I think I'll stick to editing ;)
@jack4john I'm not a big fan of reality...and thank you, but to be honest I'm still fumbling my way around Lightroom!
November 9th, 2015
You could have set the B&W option in the camera... it would still have been SOOC
November 9th, 2015
@vignouse I could have but I'm shooting RAW so as soon as I download...sigh. Still, it's interesting to see the difference
November 9th, 2015
Actually, it's the pink healthy looking fingers that take away the air of menace - now if you had just thought to tug on a pair of latex gloves...
November 9th, 2015
You know you can do a lot in setting up your cameras picture styles, right? You can increase contrast and shoot black and white and stuff...
November 10th, 2015
It feels wrong... All that colour... :) But I do love the tags! :)
November 10th, 2015
Oddly enough, I find the color version much more menacing because it has the (demented/psychopathic/misogynistic/serial-killer-ish/deranged) guy-next-door feel to it! Such normal hands, yet such a warped inner-life! Oh, sorry, was I getting too personal? ;)
November 10th, 2015
@juliedduncan Too personal? Good lord no. I'm comforted by knowing that in "reality" I'm none of those things...
@jothan The tags are there to try and save the image!
@northy I do know that but I wanted to be as basic as possible for SOOC, just for a change. The only concession I made was to use a very light ND filter.
@vignouse Unfortunately I'm all out - the last person who knocked on the door still has my last pair I believe. And a peculiar gait.
November 10th, 2015
@graemestevens Riiiiiight! ;)
November 10th, 2015
I remember when my computer was down and I had to post a whole week without editing! It was torture! I gotta get me one of those gas masks! Great SOOC, Graeme!
November 10th, 2015
I actually find the SOOC version much more disturbing in it's stark reality then the edited one. Feeling a little creepy over here in the direct beams of this stare.
November 10th, 2015
Not as creepy :))
November 10th, 2015
Say it isn't you!
November 10th, 2015
@bill_fe Ummm...it's not me...
@hermann Nowhere near
@amandalockie At least some one finds it creepy!
@orangecrush Thanks very much - this is the very last time I'll be doing SOOC though!
@juliedduncan Hmmm....
November 10th, 2015
I know that feeling and I am surprised how hard it was when I have to control my hands not to touching any function in Lightroom.
November 10th, 2015
Oh you poor thing! Posting this picture SOOC must have felt like I do going out into public without makeup. You couldn't have found a nice snake for SOOC or something? Still, suffering is good for the soul, right? In which case artists who suffer for their art must have very robust souls. :)
November 10th, 2015
@vignouse That is so true! The healthy fingers are the culprit. Maybe he could have dunked his hands in paint! ;)
November 10th, 2015
Wow, what a difference an edit makes!
November 10th, 2015
Perhaps, if you made your flesh a bit more, uhm, fleshy ...
November 10th, 2015
There was a reason Photoshop and then Lightroom were invented :-) SOOC is soooo overrated I much prefer the processed version. All that colour is just not right for a shot like this.
November 10th, 2015
your secret is out!!
November 10th, 2015
SOOC is sheer torture, but I don't buy the excuse that you were shooting RAW....the next time you could have your camera shoot RAW+JPEG, and you could still post the B&W version!! Well, it's over now....next!!
November 10th, 2015
@panthora I hate it...but, it's my story and I'm sticking to it.
@brigette I'm going to have to work hard to bury it again
@chippy1402 I completely agree.
@kevin365 I can't help my pale and pasty complexion...
@dibzgreasley You're not wrong
@ahleena I never go out without make up, even I'm not that mad
@yaorenliu It's a horrible place to be
November 10th, 2015
@vignouse ah yes - gloves - you are a closet menace Richard
@graemestevens it is still interesting
November 10th, 2015
Ah..... so that's what you really look like. :)
November 10th, 2015
Oh my.... your just like us 😊
November 10th, 2015
And yet, you come through as a creepy voyeur stalking the neighborhood, so all is not lost!
November 10th, 2015
@swillinbillyflynn Yep, pretty much...cool hair style isn't it?
@deborah63 I can't be helped... ;)
@taffy Only just though ;)
@annied Barely...
November 10th, 2015
Even if I like the edited version better, this is a great and creepy enough shot for the sooc. It always needs a good base, also if you are a master of editing.
November 10th, 2015
peek-a-boo!
November 10th, 2015
it's quite cool actually
November 10th, 2015
looks the same, mind you. but then there's no corset.
November 10th, 2015
@summerfield I may have put on too much weight for that...
@mindeater It will do ;)
@tracie8266 The last person I said that to had a coronary
@mona65 Thank you very much - I detest SOOC ;)
November 10th, 2015
@graemestevens oh lol u r so funny :-)
November 10th, 2015
Nice to observe the process.
November 11th, 2015
@joansmor That's very diplomatic of you ;)
November 11th, 2015
Haha...I'd love to know what your neighbors think!!
November 11th, 2015
@harbie They keep moving out so I never gat a chance to ask...
November 11th, 2015
Aaaarggggggggg. You're lucky that it's only one day of SOOC.
November 13th, 2015
@overalvandaan If was more than one day I wouldn't be playing along ;)
