Bloody Big Splash by graemestevens

Bloody Big Splash

You can't argue with Mum Nature. She's a cranky ol' bag.
Wow bit rough in the 'Naki...

Awesome

@spanner I always like it when it's like this
@julzmaioro Just a wee bit...hatches battened...
May 21st, 2016
I just admire when Mum asserts herself. Always exciting and noteworthy. The pounding surf is excellent.
May 21st, 2016
Those are some big waves.
May 21st, 2016
@rosiekerr I have to admit that it's my favourite kind of weather...
@sstcowan They are indeed...I got a bit damp doing this shot this morning
May 21st, 2016
great composition and timing
May 21st, 2016
It is a place reserved for those people who underestimate the power of nature.
May 21st, 2016
The weather forecasters said there was going to be huge swells on the west coast. Spectacular shot. Fav
May 21st, 2016
Lot of power in this indeed
May 21st, 2016
Ooo-ah, I guess it's not a good time for a dip in the briny out there. Just goes to show Mother is always right. Great shot Graeme, well timed.

@golftragic Thanks very much - it only took 91 shots to get this, and I got drenched.
@pusspup Absolutely, I'm standing at the very end of the opposite break water and successfully managed to get soaked to the skin.
@deliad They were saying 7 - 9 metres, I reckon we got there.
@yaorenliu They should be walked out here to witness it first hand.
@annied Thank you lady. I am officially wet.
May 21st, 2016
My favourite type of sea - the ocean looks great against that breakwall.
May 21st, 2016
@adayinmallacoota My favourite kind as well - I love the wind, rain and sea at this time of year
May 21st, 2016
Yes, she is batshit crazy. The sea looks angry and heaving there.
May 21st, 2016
@graemestevens thanks for sharing 😕
May 21st, 2016
Impressive :)
May 21st, 2016
Lovely capture.
May 21st, 2016
Brilliant.
May 21st, 2016
I'm happy to see you kept your distance! Fantastic splash! ;)
May 21st, 2016
really like this...apart from the well orchestrated wave formations...i like the blocks on the end on the breakwater...something about the light...fav
May 21st, 2016
wow - can feel the power of the crashing wave
May 21st, 2016
Dear old mum keeping us in our place, Nice shot
May 21st, 2016
Yeah...... best not to piss her off I find.
May 21st, 2016
Bet you would have got an even better shot if you were on the quay itself, but I suspect you wouldn't be in a position to post it if you did. :)
May 21st, 2016
Knowing my luck I would have decided to walk out on the breakwater to photograph a wave breaking just as this hit taking me and my camera with it! Nice timing!
May 21st, 2016
@skipt07 Thanks very much - it was just as bad on the breakwater I was standing on, but if you time it right you can run between them breaks and get some shelter. I was not dry when I finished.
@theboxmanreturns "Back in the day" you used to be able to drive down that quay in all conditions...then port security happened....sigh
@swillinbillyflynn I always use my manners around her ;)
@hobgoblin Thanks very much - she certainly lets us know who's boss
@jocasta Thanks very much - it was a touch damp out there too
@maree_sanderson Thanks very much - very little editing on this one as LR threw a wobbly for some reason
@juliedduncan I'm on the other breakwater...it was almost as bad as this one in places but just a touch more sheltered...
@dide Thanks very much :)
@guysnape Thank you kindly - LR threw a wobbly so for a change there's minimal editing.
@hermann Thank you very much :)
@annied Moist.
@karlow75 We're expecting 7 - 9 metre sweeps along our section of the coast. When I took this they were sitting at around 4 metres...and I have to go away for 4 days so I won't be here to photograph the big ones...
May 21st, 2016
Lovely action and a great shot of nature...Fav
May 21st, 2016
@tonygig Thank you very much :)

@juliedduncan I'm a wet man actually... ;)
May 21st, 2016
@graemestevens you had to go there
May 21st, 2016
@graemestevens Very good, I like a man who sticks to his guns.

Yes, you're right, don't mess with her! Wonderful shot.
May 22nd, 2016
Homo sapiens has been in an endless fight with Ma Nature since it walked on two legs... and still hasn't realised that it's a battle it can only lose!
May 22nd, 2016
Excellent shot, I love the power of that water.
May 23rd, 2016
