Last night we went to the cinema to see The Dark Tower, an adaptation of Stephen Kings classic "Gun Slinger" series.
Blimey.
While I expect movie adaptations of books to be...different...this was completely unbelievable. In fact, I may have audibly tutted more than once.
With components of 7 books mercilessly rammed in to 2 hours of the worst kind of cinematography you would think that the producers should have enough material to at least walk away with a working, coherent product but alas, they have left us with something more akin to a large fly ridden, festering pile of shite.
Save your money, read the outstanding books.
I am a confirmed and certifiable nutbar with a penchant for skulls, bones, blood, guts, fire and anything slightly peculiar and mostly bizarre. I also...
That's too bad. I read a lot of them when I was young but I think there was a gap of a few years before the end of the series. I was looking forward to the movie. Guess audible will be my best choice these days. Nice seeing your mug - you'd be a great gunslinger!!
Thanks for the review I had hoped it would be good but I haven't seen one good review most are one star out of five. I might give it a go on DVD whenthe time comes... Shame they messed it up it could have been great.
Thanks for the review - we were looking for a suitable film to use up our cinema tickets that expire end of August. I cant say I had been tempted by this, but we might just have chanced it. Not now! Good to see that you have closed the curtains on that awful scenery and returned to looking at yourself again.
you should have known - they always do that with Stephen King - the best adaptations are Shawshank, Green Mile and Stand By me - in MHO - mostly they just can't capture the atmosphere mood and scare that he manages to evoke when we read
@annied True that...it was truly awful @dawnee Thanks very much :) @dkbarnett You're welcome...definitely a case of money that could be better spent elsewhere @tracie8266 Thank you and pleased to be of assistance
Agreed! I just finished the series this summer and swore off the movie as soon as I saw it advertised. There's no way . . . Great face, by the way. That one little hair strand out of place does it for me. Bah ha ha ha! ;)
