ypres

A very small part of the Great War exhibition at the National War Memorial Museum in Wellington. Designed and funded by Sir Peter Jackson and his numerous workshops, for a small portion of the exhibition you can walk the streets of Ypres.
This is such an interesting image with so much to look at and discover. I'm wondering if the exhibition is in black and wihite tones as well? Either way it is very effective. Love the textures in this photo.

What a wonderful way to immerse people in the feel and mood of such an important (future) battle-field as Ypres. Your moody b&w really captures the essence of the period.

I like the feel of this -- the stonework and flowers in combination.

It must have been some adventure for those guys who found themselves on the other side of the world, in a time when travel was not common . A mixture of wonder and the most awful horror, Your picture captures that for me..fav, for making me think about those guys and in a few cases girls, lets hope they found peace in the end.
November 19th, 2017
@jack4john Part of the exhibit is a short film discussing exactly that - the sense of wonder, horror, fear...a more than moving exhibition

November 20th, 2017
@vignouse It has that fell - we went to the real one to find some names, which was harrowing in it's own way
