We were out last night to capture the moon rise, at which I failed miserably...I did manage to capture some Aurora Australis action over Mount Taranaki though, so the evening wasn't a complete loss (despite the excessively high ISO and resulting grain - the Aurora couldn't actually be seen by eye but a good 15 second exposure did the trick).
I am a confirmed and certifiable nutbar with a penchant for skulls, bones, blood, guts, fire and anything slightly peculiar and mostly bizarre. I also...
There's a lovely green streak over there in the south which just might be an indication of an aurora! However, its the beautifully clear capture of the mountain at this time of night that has taken my eye! fav
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Thanks very much :) @happypat Thank you kindly :) @maggiemae We were out with a group of 6, one of whom is Leith Robertson, the director of our local Astronomical Society branch and the Observatory so yes, it's definitely Aurora. According to him it is anyway - we have time lapse of it as well and the other 6 got it too :)
@jesperani Indeed ;) @humphreyhippo It's a first for me - we couldn't see it by "naked eye" though, it wasn't until we all started downloading and processing that we noticed we all had it... @blueberry1222 It's also bit Fuji from certain angles... @byrdlip I learn often ;) @fbailey Thank you very much :) @domenicododaro There was also wine, so no, not a complete loss ;) @joansmor That's one way of putting it ;) @dide Thank you very much :) @caterina It was a firs for us - I try not to g out at night because there's people like me out there ;) @hermann Thank you very much :) @annied I know right? I even spelleded it right.
Oh, this is a grand shot! Your work inspires me, even though I live in a suburbia where truly dark skies are hours away. Maybe it's time that I made a journey to where I can see lovely places like this...
