araheke by graemestevens

araheke

There was nothing doing at all today so we went for a "bijou-strollette" on the Araheke track, which is a short bush walk about 5 minutes from home. The word Araheke translates as "the migratory path" and in this case it refers to eels.

My camera continues to misbehave, particularly in stronger/brighter light - something is amiss.
That log looks like a dinosaur creature
Lovely to have a bush track so close to home
Sorry about your camera 😖

Lovely primitive-ness. Bummer about the camera. I have had to send mine in for a repair in the past, which kind of sucked, so hoping that it is an easy fix.

The clarity of the reflexions gives this a ‘through the looking glass’ alternate world feeling.

yikes that's pretty :)

Nice place for a walk.

looks very serene, a gorgeous place to go for a walk and get back in touch with nature

A lovely cool spot with lots of calming greenery!

Looks an interesting spot - do you often see eels and how big do they get?

I think gas man must have got some odd particles in his mask his neural path ways have got infected with a bug then past on to his camera, for him to get such a shot as this out in open air. fav
Hope the camera get's better soon.

Stunning scene, stellar processing, awesome on black... crap camera! Hey, 3 out of 4 ain't bad ;-) (You need to go down to the dealers in your gas-mask and bandages... that should lend them a little dispatch!)

Appallingly beautiful. Wish you hadn't mentioned the eels though . . .

Oh wow what an interesting place for a walk lots to look at, love the reflections!
Bush walk with eels not sure I would like that!

Wonderful image with those beautiful reflections.

Well I wouldn't have guessed this a one of yours but I can still see a monster there!
Love all the shapes, depths & colours here...fave. I remember coming across your eels once in a stream at Nicau cafe & they were terrifyingly vicious, coming for your fingers if you put them anywhere near the water.

@happypat Eels are good like that - there's a place in town where you can sit down by the Huatoki Stream and feed them, they comecup out of the water as much as they can to take bread from your hands...horrifying....
@jamibann Thank you very much :)
@radiogirl It's a very peaceful place....as long as you stay out of the water ;)
@juliedduncan I'm so sorry...or am I?
@vignouse I believe that a frank and open discussion will be had with the dealer...
@hobgoblin He's always infected with something...or infecting something...
@fbailey I've never seen eels here but there is a stream that runs through our CBD where you can sit right down by the water and feed them (if you so desire) - the ones there are "large". If I had to guess I would say the biggest at that particular spot is maybe 1.5 metres long, he goes by the name of "Boris".
@dide Mother Nature should be commended :)
@mv_wolfie It is a nice spot...probably be better if I wasn't there disturbing it ;)
@amy_sweet_september It'll do ;)
@koalagardens Terrifyingly so...
@gardencat I'll pass that on to Mother Nature ;)
@rosiekerr I'm not sure what's going on with it - I had it in for repair and only got it back a week ago but it still isn't right...
@brigette It's becoming frustrating but I'm sure I'll make it through ;)

@graemestevens No, you're not. Not at all. ;)

hmmm my em5 mkii is playing silly buggers with the shutter sometimes - which led to the eventual demise of my mki :( i hope whatever is ailing yours can be swiftly sorted and i agree that surely you have some helpful props to encourage the dealer to get his finger out. and meanwhile this is a stunning image, with gorgeous light and detail

Cool place to go for a walk, pity no eels in your shot but the idea to feed them brrrrr :)

Amazing capture and beautiful place. In OM cameras, so much electronics is baked up that sometimes goes crazy. Reset your factory settings before you start serious actions. It has such a function and it cleanses very much all system.

Even your hikes look threatening
February 10th, 2020
Bummer re your camera. Good luck
February 10th, 2020
@jgpittenger Thanks - I'm sure I can get it sorted!
@haskar I did a reset but it didn't help so I'll hand it over to the professionals now!
@jacqbb I once sat in a bath tub full of eels...horrifying
@pistache Mine seems to be an intermittent glitch, which is quite frustrating!
@juliedduncan Correct :)

Hope you can get your camera sorted quickly. All digits crossed.
February 10th, 2020
@golftragic Indeed - and thanks :)
February 10th, 2020
What a super spot to have within 5 mins of your home - the eels sound fascinating. :)
February 10th, 2020
@robz We're pretty lucky...and they can be delicious ;)
