Baby, It's Cold Outside

23F is what the thermometer said when I took this shot this morning. For Alabama that is cold. The ice shown here is on the pond by my front door. For another view in warmer weather look at http://365project.org/grammyn/365/2011-09-09
Wahou it's frezzing!
And you're right, we can have nice shots even when it's cooold.

@maeva Sometimes it is difficult to find a shot but you will learn to consider all possibilities as you get further into the project. ;~}

Slightly chilly, I'd say! Your pic captures that!
January 4th, 2012
the delicate thin layer of ice - you really captured it wonderfully!
January 4th, 2012
@debsphotos ;~}. Thanks, Debbie. I think you are used to considerably colder.
January 4th, 2012
@adobewaters Thank you Adobe. It was a challenge to get it at the right angle.
January 4th, 2012
Wow, icy water!! should be real cold for you:)
January 4th, 2012
@nyusha It is very cold for me but I am sure for you it is only chilly! ;~}
January 4th, 2012
ok, our temperature was -23 celsius yesterday.... trade you? great picture btw!
January 4th, 2012
@mhatch Oh My Word!! Where do you live?! Not trading you! ;~} I have lived in Alabama for 21 years so these temperatures seem cold to me. Thanks for the compliment.

ice in Alabama.....wow
January 5th, 2012
It's cold here but I don't think its that cold! Haven't seen any ice anyway! That is a huge leaf!
January 5th, 2012
@jayberg It isn't common but we do get it from time to time.
January 5th, 2012
@clarefigo The leasf really isn't very big. It must vbe the perspective that makes it seem large. For a really large leaf check this out http://365project.org/grammyn/365/2011-11-14

That is making me even colder than I am now! It was 20 here in GA this morning really early. Brrr! Nice shot!
January 5th, 2012
@espyetta Thanks, Mary Beth. We are supposed to warm up tomorrow.
January 5th, 2012
The lines in the ice make the picture..of course that leaf half way sstuck between the ice helps too. I really like it. yesterday was the coldest day this season so far....I bet it was minus 10 -12 degrees celcius...but since it was windy it felt so much colder. this morning I couln't open up the bedroom windows. they were frozen shut. today it warmed up a bit.
January 5th, 2012
@bruni Thanks, Bruni. I'm glad you noticed the details I was going for. t makes me cold just to read about your weather.
January 5th, 2012
Fab! Love the leaf half in and half out and I don't know if it's the lines in the ice or exactly what, but you've done a great job of showing how thin the layer of ice is. And the leaves in the foreground are perfect!
January 5th, 2012
@grammyn -you got that right!
January 5th, 2012
@marilyn Thank you so much for liking what I did about the whole shot. Phil was trying to tell me which one to use and I didn't like his suggestions because they didn't have the elements you just mentioned. Thanks again.
January 5th, 2012
@debsphotos Glad I don't have to deal with yours.
January 5th, 2012
Looks cold
January 5th, 2012
@grammyn, live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada only had one day of those temperatures back today to 32F or 0 celsius.
January 5th, 2012
Chilly!!!!
January 5th, 2012
That does sound cold for your area but not for Wisconsin. Great capture!

I agree...the lines really are nice in this shot...it's as cold down there as in NJ..!!!
January 6th, 2012
@mhatch I enjoy the cold but not continuously. Fortunately, it is a little warmer here today.
January 6th, 2012
@ruthmouch Yes but it won't last. That is the blessing.
January 6th, 2012
@myhrhelper Thanks, Kathy. It was cold for us!
