Dianthus by grammyn

Dianthus

I hate I have resorted to photographing flowers but there are so many of them and I spent the day working on a bride's maid dress for a friend of my daughter without hardly getting out of the sewing room so this is what you get for today!
I wouldn't call it resorting to photographing flowers when they are this pretty. Sometimes the seasons dictate the best shots. We can only follow along for the ride!

@debbim I like that attitude and holy Moses are you ever quick! I just posted a second ago. Thanks so much for your support,Debbi. It means so much!

Okay . . I love these flowers and the color is beautiful. And I totally agree with Debbi. Sometimes the seasons dictate the best shots and I may even upload a flower tonight. I mean that's all I'm seeing these days. Flowers here in Michigan in MARCH is totally unbelievable. We'll all be filling 365 with flowers for awhile. Actually, Katy, I don't do flowers well for pics, but what the heck.

Lovely photo Katy. I agree with Debbi and Karenann sometimes you just have to go with the flow, especially when you're so busy. I hope the bride's maid dress is coming along ok - it would be lovely to see a photo of it when you've finished :-)

@karenann KarenAnn, I really appreciate the supportive comments. I am looking forward to YOUR flower shot and I am sure it will be awesome like all your photos!

@jackiew Thanks so much,Jackie. I said when I started this project I didn't want to shoot flowers because they are such an easy subject...always there, always colorful but I have had to go back on that resolution because of the pressure of shooting something every day.

@kimfaria I am so glad you like them,Kim! Thanks so much!

I think that is great to be able to sew. Wish I could! The shape on these is really interesting! :0)

@espyetta Thanks,MaryBeth for all your nice comments!

So I guess we both resorted to flowers today! Always a good fallback on busy days. Lovely color in this, Katy!

@debsphotos Thanks,Debbie! They ARE an easy shot!

What a beautiful photo of these flowers, Katy. Love the color and detail. I am all out of flowers to photograph as I have none in my yard. May have to pull some photos from before 365 if necessary, especially with rain on its way and if this becomes a flower fest on here. We should have a flower day and all post a favorite flower from whenever. I know, I am going nuts. What a day I had so had to pull my photo from Saturday. Have fun sewing.

@darsphotos Thank you very much for you kind words Darlene. I am sure you will get more flowers to shoot soon!

Sewing is less fun when it is "have" to do and I did choose to take the job but I feel the pressure when it needs to be done by a certain time and there are other things I would rather do!

We do not grow flowers in our yard and the neighbors few are weathered. I am sure at some point in time there will be some somewhere as I would like to practice taking photos. Oh, Daffodil Hill may be in our future as long as it is not raining. It is quite a drive, but a fun one.

I used to sew all the time but my neck will not tolerate it anymore. I miss it so much. I know what you mean though, it is more fun to have fun and no pressure.

I love the flowers in my yard and round about to take with my film camera. My apple has started blossoming again because it is confused.
March 22nd, 2012
@peterdegraaff That is exactly how I feel but sometimes think I could go overboard very easily! Poor apple tree! Is your weather as crazy as ours had been?

Deb
Pretty Dianthus. I am so looking forward to photographing my flowers! Second day of Spring and I woke up to snow! Hopefully I'll get a couple of good snow shots today :)
March 22nd, 2012
@deburahiru I would love to be able to shoot snow but I feel your frustration with it. My sister is facing the same thing and I know how it can wear on you after so long.

mag
what do you mean resorting to flowers....Flowers are how Mother Nature smiles....!!!....nice shot katy....
March 23rd, 2012
@maggotx You know,Mag, it is impossible to take a bad shot of a flower. There is almost no skill or challenge involved so it feels like cheating to me. I appreciate it very much , Mag! ;~}

So sweet. These flowers are lovely

I have been finding the opposite to be true relative to "flower pictures" being easy. Macros involve getting into all kinds of positions while holding your breath as you try not to move, because you set the aperture so high to increase the depth of field. But then you wonder if it would be better with a shallow dof to increase the bokeh and have to redo the whole pose. You can get some good pictures of unusual positions if you watch a macro photographer.

@jennwearing Thank you so much, Jennifer!

@morrisroos I wish I were closer to you to get THOSE shots, Don! ;~}
