For years I have thought these were my baby shoes but my sister posted a picture of shoes that were our mother's http://365project.org/marilyn/365/2012-05-06 so now I am thinking these are hers too. They are old in any case and a part of my history that I treasure! They are sitting on a quilt that was made by my mother, her mother and her mother's mother. My great grandmother made the blocks for the quilt, which you can not see and my grandmother started putting them together. My mother finished assembling it and then hand stitched the quilting. Another part of my history that I treasure!
Great shot... I forgot to mention in mine that the shoes were sitting on great-great-grandma's hand-embroidered eyelet doily! These are in much better shape than the ones I have... maybe they are yours...
That's one stunning piece of history, Katy! Love your composition of this treasure... amazing that three generations worked on this one quilt. Now you have to add a little something of your own "work" to the quilt to make that four generations. Love the darling shoes ... I am a real lover of this kind of keepsake.
What a treasure, Katy. Love those shoes as my Mom has a pair at her house that my sisters and I wore. What a lot of history in this quilt also. Nice capture of both of them.
@karenann I forgot to say I am not sure what I could add to the quilt to continue the generational theme but I really liked the idea and will give it some thought!
I loved reading your story about this it makes me feel you shared a part of you.... as your beautiful pictures do .... Terrific shot I love the color of the shoes and all of it should be cherished.... Terrific shot
It's great that you have these. My grandmother used to do piecework, and left many things unfinished. Somehow most of it got lost in my parents' moves--I wish one of us had completed them!
I am glad you liked what I wrote on your picture. I meant it!
