It was such a beautiful day today that I kept all the doors open. After spending some time on my computer I came downstairs to start supper and I heard a ruckus in the kitchen! I looked on the chandelier and this is what I saw.
Thanks very much to all the people who commented so quickly and so favorably to my shot yesterday! You are the best and I cherish you all.
You have a chandelier in your kitchen? Ha ha.....must have come inside for some of your cooking! I'm sitting outside with my camera at the ready for the little birds that come to the big tree. As soon as I move a muscle....off they go!
@onie Well it isn't what you would think of as a chandelier. It is a hanging light over the kitchen table. What do you call that? Actually he is building a nest close to the door and I thought once today he might accidentally come into the house if I left the door opened. I'll have to be more careful! I know what you mean about them being skitterish when you are trying to shoot them! I have very little luck if I am outside unless I am quite a ways away from them!
I had a habit of leaving the slider door open in Montgomery and all sorts of birds would come in for a visit.
One day, I was playing a piece of Vivaldi's Four Seasons on flute, accompanied by my friend Carol on piano when a male cardinal came inside and sat on the bookcase. We continued playing and he would answer the flute by tweeting. We played. He tweeted. When we finished, we waited a few seconds and then turned to him. He took the cue and flew back outside.
I love that you got this great shot of your visitor!!
I guess you do not have screen doors? How cool is this. What a great shot, Katy. So, how did you get this bird back out the door? Love that attached camera to you, came in handy once again. lol
@darsphotos No screen doors on the door she flew in. Thanks so much, Darlene! I chased her around the house until I got her near the door and she flew out. Not easy to do but not too hard either! I guess thecamera has become an essential part of my activities. ;~}
@grammyn What, no screen door. We have so many things flying around that even get through our screen doors. Sounds like you had a fun time and got some exercise getting this one out the door. I agree, your camera has to be attached to you as you capture such wonderful photos in the moment and some like this one come to you.
How wonderful that you were able to leave the doors open. Spring must have arrived. :-)
What an exciting visitor you had. She must have been so scared and confused. First some crazy lady stuck a camera in her face and THEN started chasing her around the house!
Bet she won't pop in to visit YOU again any time soon. LOL
I'm glad you were able to get her out with no injuries to the chaser or the chase-ee.

I felt so sorry for it and I think the nest building came to an end after that experience!
