Pinecones are one example of the Fibonacci spiral. I don't completely understand it and can't really explain it to you but I know it occurs often in nature.
The Fibonacci or golden spiral is a fascinating thing to look up. One article I read shows the base of the cone and the spiral is a bit easier to see. This is a lovely shot of the cones in the grass. The colors inside the one in the background are so warm.
Good shot- I guess the way I'd explain it is that it's a swirled pattern that moves both outwards and inwards. But it really is much easier just look at it - and I could never explain it in mathematical terms!
@randystreat I really appreciate this comment Kathy. Just when I think I understand the concept the specifics elude me! @corinnec I am so glad you like it Corinne. It had just started raining and I debated whether to take the time or not! @dutchothotmailcom Thank you Esther. that makes it qworth standing in the rain for a minute to get it! @milaniet That was one of the goals so I am glad you noticed! Thanks @eudora so very nice of you to say Diane and I am glad you struggle with it too @kwind Thanks Kim It looks almost yellow doesn't it? @madamelucy LOL! I don't blame you a bit but the spiral is the pattern and not the name of the pinecone @olivetreeann thanks bunches Ann. Swirled pattern works for me! @ludwigsdiana You noticed a lot fo the details that I hadn't even really seen Diana thank you @monikozi that is a great philosophy! @Dawn I think I first heard about it because of 365 actually. Thank you Dawn and so nice to have you back @koalagardens I was hoping it would turn out as that was one of the goals for this one Thanks so much for noticing, Katrina! @framelight_byasli I am really glad you like it Asli thanks! @louannwarren It was just getting ready to rain so I caught it just in time then Lou Ann thanks @prn I didn't know that @linnypinny I was bending over with my $%^& in the air to get it! thanks Lin @kwiksilver Thank you Gillian I especially wanted the DOF so I am glad you noticed it @sunnygirl Thank you Mallory. It was a challenge to get it since it was so low to the ground @lesip LOL! I am glad you got them already! I never know with the mail. You know I try to get an unusual flavor for you and hoped chocolate pudding would appeal to you! ♥ @maggiemae Fibonacci, also known as Leonardo Bonacci, Leonardo of Pisa, or Leonardo Bigollo Pisano, was an Italian mathematician from the Republic of Pisa, considered to be "the most talented Western mathematician of the Middle Ages". Wikipedia LOL but I like your definition better! @serendypyty thank you so much Cazzi. It does appear in lots of places and is very fascinating to me too!
