Hangul by grammyn

Hangul

Several years ago my oldest daughter traveled to Korea with her sister-in-law to help her bring home a baby they adopted. She had a little chance to do some sightseeing and brought home some pretty placemats covered in gold Korean writing. I have no idea what they might say but they are really pretty.
Yes they are beautiful. Love the contrast and the interesting “patterns” of the writing.

A lovely half and half. I have always wanted to go to Vietnam! Never thought about Korea but I’m sure it’s beautiful too.

@shutterbug49 @milaniet @Dawn @ludwigsdiana @kjarn @rensala @wakelys @joansmor @briaan @louannwarren @linnypinny @randystreat I am so glad you like the place mat. I though it contrrasted nicely with the table runner underneath it.

I think they are probably very different in a lot of ways Lou Ann but also some similarities. My husband served there for a year when this daughter was a baby so I found it interesting that she was able to visit there

Very pretty- I'm sure it wishes those who come to the table good health and happy eating- or something like that!

A fascinating contrast for half and half. Interesting that your daughter and husband have both been to Korea. Several years ago a new priest celebrated his first mass at our church. His parents are Korean and his mother and the women from his home church in Dallas wore the most beautiful Korean dresses. I realized how little I know about Korea and its culture.

@olivetreeann You are probably right!
@eudora Thanks Diane. I wanted to go when my husband did but families were not allowed then and I worried about maybe needing medical care for her and her brother and not being able to find any so we stayed home.
@ososki thank you Bill

Very nice contrasts here. Not just the colors, but also the softness of the scroll work with the more angular look of the Korean letters.

@marilyn thank you so much for noticing that and I’m so glad you like them
