We have a 1200-acre park here in our city (Salem, Oregon) including this designated dog park...
Enjoy being off your leash .... run free!
Critique question: do you think image would be better if cropped off the right edge to eliminate the light grasses in the upper right? Does that light area lead the eye out of the image or give a sense of depth and distance? Thanks....
I think it should be as is. If a crop is done there then it become too tight for the branch at the top. I like how you included the other farther group to show the large space.
I think that since there are other spots in the photo that are brighter that it works fine but if you cropped it just to the edge of the brighter area the walkers and dog could be on the 1/3 line
I like the shot. If I were to crop it, I would come in from the lower right and side, just about 1/4 of an inch on the side and 1/2 inch on the bottom to bring the subject closer to the rule of thirds delineation.
If you did crop, I would also crop out the people on the left to make the ones on the right more the main subject. It gives a different feeling and neither is more right.
I like it as is. My eye was not drawn to the corner because you have a strong subject with the two people and the dog. If the corner bothers you, you might try a slight dark vignette….very subtle.
It does not need any cropping. The tree and shadow give a natural framing that highlights the dog and his two companions. The other group are two small to take away from the first group and they act as a brake to stop your eye moving out of the photo.
@jgpittenger@danette@hjbenson Thank you so much for the considered critique of the this image...really helpful and I really appreciate the time you took to do this. Ty!
That bit of light on the grasses doesn't draw my eye. I might just crop a smidge off of the right to make the people closer to the right. Nice job with your framing!
