One more Grackle by grannysue

One more Grackle

Another female Grackle. She is either checking out her toenails or perhaps she has spotted a bug.
I did not notice that the bush had little berries on it until I loaded the photos onto my computer. No photo ops today, had doctor appointment and then got stuck downtown in super heavy traffic due to rain and wrecks.
Thank you for viewing and commenting.
I am still trying to catch up on comments, I will get there eventually.
The focus in spot on the eye Linda, great capture and I love the contrasting lines in the brickwork in the backgound and the vivid green of the plant!

Beautiful bird

Even though I am not a big fan of grackles, this is still a great capture Linda!!

Like this, there is lovely contrast between the wall, bird and shrub! Nice composition.

Great shot. Love the composition. Love your caption.

nice detail, good composition, like the commentary - I vote for toenails :)
June 7th, 2012
I agree with Harry, it's toenails all the way!
You "nail"ed it! :)

I like the brick background to this shot!

this is beautiful....s h o t....Linda...bird is beautiful....

Beautiful shot; she has her eye on those berries.

Fantastic focus! A great shot. I think she's spotted a bug. She looks kind of hungry. The bug's on her toenail. 8D

Should really be seen up large. The bird is giving the unripe berries the evil eye... ;-p

@kellc Thanks! I had parked my car near the bush and could not pass up the opportunity to take a few shots.

@marlboromaam Thanks! It was maybe a wasted trip, he referred me back to my pcp which is sort of pointless. Got to keep trying though!

@kerristephens Thanks!
@skipt07 Thanks! I do not like them, but they seem to be taking over and running all the smaller birds away.
@leilaboyd Thank you!
@yonnie Thank you!

@karenann @pawar_ramesh @girlie Thank you!
@myautofocuslife Thanks! Grackles seem to be always hungry, never full.
@bankmann Thanks! Grackles give everything the evil eye, they have the most intense stare.

What an interesting line her body makes. Really great composition.

@grannysue - We once had a Douglas fir growing next to our house and every year it was full of grackle nests. We finally had the tree removed and the grackles became less of a nuisance. I believe I heard or read they are protected song birds. I never heard them make a sound that I would consider them a song bird>

Fantastic nature capture, never seen one of these birds

Perfect shot. Red bricks background is beautiful.

Great capture!!

@tonygig There are so very many here. The females are the dull brown. Check out my album and you will see some of the male ones also, they are better looking.
June 8th, 2012
@skipt07 They are protected, but I would not call them a song bird, maybe a squawker. UGH!
June 8th, 2012
What a fantastic capture, Linda.
June 8th, 2012
Wow, I have never seen a grackle look so good. And the outstanding background.....another fav!

A great find,catch and a beautiful capture,

wow... what a beautiful shot, pretty bird, never seen one of them around here... isn't it funny what you notice in a picture after you've taken it?!!!
June 8th, 2012
Awesome picture! I've never seen a close up of a grackle before, they actually look much nicer than I thought!

@m9f9l @deborahb @dishaparekh176 @darsphotos @pyrrhula Thank you for your kind comments, I appreciate them!
June 10th, 2012
@cimes1 Thank you, Carol! The males are actually better looking, but I must admit, I really don't like Grackles, they are funny to watch sometimes. They tend to run the song birds away when they move in and take over.

@glb484 Thank you! Yes, sometimes you find things you did not see with your eyes. The males are better looking than the females. I have some shots of the male ones in my album.
@lasco Laurie, thank you! See my answer to Gina just above/

cool POV ~ love the way the brick looks in the background

I usually don't think they are very attractive but you made this one look quite pretty sitting up there in that berry bush!

Fantastic composition!
