3.58 pm: My July album features a photo of the long abandoned Flour Factory ( http://365project.org/halkia/themes-extra/2011-07-08). I've wanted to see its interior for years but it's not open to the public. Today I was lucky enough to visit it anyway as the invitation to a VIP tour of the building had fallen into my lap a few weeks ago (thanks to @smallenburg). We were there with a small group including @caatjeg. Most of us were photographing like mad - it's such a photogenic venue.
It was very impressive - huge, empty, dilapidated and very dirty. The ground floor (pictured) was not that bad but the top floors were full of pigeon poop, feathers and corpses. We enjoyed a spectacular view of Leiden from way up on the roof on a terrace that could only be reached through a broken window. There were huge holes and gaps in both the walls and floors. Next year they will start renovating the building.
