This is a very old & beautiful theatre in Blackpool. The inside is stunning, all the domed ceiling is painted like a church would be & there are guilt mouldings everywhere . It is sort of round inside too with three tiers & the top tier has no seats just cushioned benches! They do shows there & plays such as Blood Brothers & quite a few school productions. I once had the actor Clive Francis staying with me for a week when he was in 'The Lavender |Hill Mob', he gave me some tickets &some friends & I went to watch a matinee & felt very important because he knew us !! There is a 'Friends of the Grand' society . In the interval you can buy tea or coffee in a small cafe.
Oh you've taken me a on a trip down memory lane. In my teens I went to many plays in the Grand. Many of the london plays came to Blackpool before going to the West End. Happy days! I'm surprised it's survived all these years.
Pat, excellent use of selective colouring and a good angle of view.
I've actually been inside the theatre for a show, so your description is good. You've done really well from the viewpoint to hide the modern shops that surround the building.
@jmj It has survived , restored & very well loved & used Jennifer ! @phil_howcroft Thanks Phil & yes there are modern shops round that area although the council has spent money on paving the whole street & quite smart it looks too !
