Today is our little Kiwi grandson's 1st birthday !! Our daughter & family came for tea & at 9pm we watched Max open his presents at 8am in New Zealand. Here we are sitting round the kitchen table watching the computer screen. Skype is a wonderful thing & helps us to keep in touch visually with occasions like this. The reception wasn't brilliant & it kept going off every so often & freezing but I think that is partly because they are in a mountainous area.
It was lovely to see him tearing the paper off presents we have sent across from the UK.

What a lovely idea. It must have been interesting seeing Max open your presents on Skype in the daytime and see his reactions when it was evening here (if this isn't all a bit sci-fi what is?!). Happy Birthday, Max!
Oh bless him - so great to see movement and hear the sounds as well as having still photos. SO much better than the days when you waived goodbye forever to family crossing the world - these days the globe is a lot smaller!!
WOW Thats fantastic, modern technology is fantastic when family are so far away. My family are 6 hours away and i thought emailing pics was good i will have to look into skype more i think. Love your pic is that you in it did you put it on self timer?
Awwh that is so sweet! I used Skype with my Spanish cousin and her 4 lovely daughters and fun husband, but it cut out so much we gave up with it in the end. We used to say it made us look like the first shots from the moon!! When it worked it was great tho!
Oh, how wonderful that you were able to share in Max's birthday celebration. Skype is such a fantastic way to keep in touch...the next best thing to being there. Happy birthday to your little grandson!!!
