Great Eccleston has hosted the Championship Final of the Tractor Pullers Association this weekend at the purpose built pit in the village. Thousands descend here & the roads are full of parked cars & there is much drink consumed !!!
Tractor Pulling is a sport were a sledge is pulled along a 90metre track by different sizes of tractors They keep adding weights & the tractor that pulls the sledge the furthest in each class wins !
They had a night pull last night & then all day again today. As you can imagine there is a lot of noise, sparks & smoke flying ! This is one of the foreign tractors with the sledge behind it . Unfortunately there was one of the competitors killed on this track 3 or 4 years ago. The men love this sport but quite a few women go too, not my cup of tea so this actually is Harry's photo today !!

I find your photos fascinating - until today I never knew there was a 'Tractor Pullers Association'! How on earth could I have missed that?!! Do you think it might become an Olympic sport?

Good lord 9 you must have been busy! Interesting shot and commentary I am sorry to hear a person got killed in past years. I once road a 24hr bike time trial and heard that one year a person doing it on a trike died - his machine was not safe and failed in the night and very sadly he was run over. Awful when it is a leisure activity that is for enjoyment. Good to hear it went without incident this time :-)
I went to one of these once, Pat. It was in Florida. The men around me were loving it . . I was just bored, hot, and cranky!! lol This is a great picture tho. . hubby did well.
