Harry, William & I have been all the way to Borderway Market at Carlisle today to watch our nephew & his wife sell 30 of their beef sucklers, that is beef cow with calf at foot.
This pair made the top price at £3350 but they all averaged £2000 so I would think they would be quite pleased with that.
Graham & Andrea have the striped shirts on.
It was a fantastic run over Shap with blue sky all the way.
Oh I'm jealous of that journey -it must look fantastic in the glorious sunshine! That seems like a great price for a cow/calf combo. At least they know they'll be well looked after when people pay those prices. I hope @peggysirk appreciates that we've both posted cows today - I know she's a fan ;0)
@judithg The beauty about this market was that I knew the cows & calves were going to a bit of nice pasture & not the butchers !!!! I could look at them & not be upset !!! Yes it was a fabulous journey & quiet motorway !!! @peggysirk is spoilt today !!!
@maggiemae No your photos are fantastic maggiemae !!!! My camera is just rattling around lose in my bag , it's a wonder it isn't scratched but I use it everyday of course as will all on 365 so feel I have had my moneys worth. I am sure if I had a DSLR it wouldn't get used half as much although I am tempted sometimes !!!!
@phil_howcroft Well no I never noticed a smell from the cattle Phil but I probably wouldn't as I am used to it but the audience was a bit whiffy , some of them anyway !!!!
What a great capture of the market action, Pat...I feel as though I have a second row seat! Between your Borderway Way Market shot and @judithg 's bicycle bovines, it's almost like spending a day in the countryside...which is a wonderful thing for a cow lover like me! :)
glad they were going to pasture too, I know I eat meat but it is still sad when you know they're going to the butchers! An excellent shot - and yes another lovely day!
