Media City. by happypat

Media City.

I have gone all black & white today.

This is the view across the Salford Quays from The Lowry where the Graduation was held to the new Media City housing the BBC studios where Breakfast is now broadcast from.

It is a massive complex & has cost many millions of pounds to set up both in the buildings & re-locating much of the staff from London.

Harry & I always watch in the mornings & I must say most of the guests seem to be by video link which doesn't make sense to me.

The Mayor of Salford spoke at the ceremony saying they were disappointed in the lack of jobs it has generated for local people & they are hoping to change this...so not as good for the North West as was hoped!

Best viewed large as the detail is lost a bit without colour.
An interesting shot. It looks good in b&w. It is a long time since I visited Salford. Many changes
I agree with you about morning tv. I get so annoyed when the presenters have to keep turning round to view the screen.

A perfect pov for b&w, Ann. I love the tones and the buildings here. Lovely lines and the lighting is wonderful. Great capture. Hopefully more jobs will come out of this in time. Oh ... and definitely beautiful viewed enlarged!! Way to go. :)

@jtookey150 I agree Jean & can't understand why they moved from London...strange!

Nice for the folk who work here that it's a riverside location. Interesting shot.

Very interesting but they seem to have gone for seventies architecture! Richard and Judy never resorted to video link - make 'em travel I say!! The good news is that now when they are moaning about the weather on the radio it isn't all about London. And they will hopefully become generally less London-centric with time.

Nice shot for sure but so sorry that it keeps being gloomy weather. We have sun today!!!

@judithg The place was certainly buzzing & I was surprised at the scale of it all ...brings us Northerners into the loop I suppose!!

What on earth has happened to architecture today.........this is just so dull, I love the Lowry centre, my daughtrer also graduated in Manchester so some graet places there...shame ..love the b&w gritty!!

I like the shot it takes in so much, but aren't the buildings unimaginative. Cityscapes can be so exciting.

i like this monochrome Pat, and you seem to be quite keen on letterboxes yourself now !

Love how the lines of the buildings are accentuated by the use of b&w. Hope the job outlook is a bit brighter for Catherine than the mayor was pointing out about the BBC.

@fannyb @ellida I agree with both of you , this could have been built in the sixties, seventies but probably state of the art inside!

@phil_howcroft I do love letterboxes Phil specially b/w ones!

I missed the gowned graduates in the foreground until I viewed the large version. Really adds a distinct 'moment in time' to the shot.
