A relatively new Cathedral only built in 1890-1900.
The townspeople carried bucket loads of sandstone to the building site piece by piece.
The Cathedral stands high above the town on a hill overlooking wonderful countryside.
Your little explanation reminded me of Ken Follett's book The Pillars of the Earth.........amazing what people will do to build a cathedral........wonderful against the gorgeous blue sky
@fannyb My favourite book of all time Fanny...I was in awe at how they built those massive churches all those centuries ago & that book always comes to mind too when I look at places like this!
What a tremendous project building a cathedral.. I read a few hundred pages of Pillars of the Earth then lost interest. I think the first book I ever stopped reading.
