Water,water everywhere. by happypat

Water,water everywhere.

The view from our back door today at high tide.
We have some amazing tides at this time of the year & you can just see a strip of the River Wyre in the distance as it bounds the fields.
This river can be almost crossed by foot at low tide & some of our cows used to get to the other side on odd occasions.
A different matter at a very high tide however & it can get to 100 metres wide & is very scary looking.
It has never come over the top of the bank while we have been here but we always think...one day!!!
You can see how much rain there has been looking at how the fields are water logged.
It shows it better large if you can be bothered to look at this very dreary picture!!

Three good things:
1. Pancakes for pudding.
2. Got through to Sky , they are sending an engineer out.
3. Two bricks bought with Alex & Williams name on for the new school extension at their old primary school.
Wet wet every where its the same here, I like your soggy landscape

So flat!! thought you were hillier than that.......we look the same our river is so high at the moment..............glad you got through to Sky..at last I'm STILL fighting those shitbags who made me cough up for an advertising service they didn't give!! Everything take so long...so frustrating!

@fannyb We are flatish though we live on a hill & so looking down a little on to these fields. Always happy to be higher than the sea!!! To the north of here on good days we can see the Lake District mountains & to the west of us about ten miles way ere Longridge & Bleasedale Fells.
I agree shitbags ..I am stlil paying for some useless domain website I got talked into !!!!

Nicely composed B+W Pat. Love your delicate framing.

That certainly does look wet, what a winter you are having this year...seems to be snowing every third day or so!
February 12th, 2013
Gosh that is a scary amount of water!
Been missing out recently on comments but love the two bricks bought with names on for new school extension - generations of the future will love it!

A very soggy picture. I am sorry for folk who live near rivers. 2012 was a bad year.
February 12th, 2013
Worth viewing large- dreary but beautiful nevertheless
February 12th, 2013
Wow - that's quite a variation. Just wondering if I can bring myself to watch the program about the flooding later...
February 12th, 2013
You are really quite close to this river- the Wyre! Are you ever able to get reflections of clouds in the water? I'm going to do pancakes for 14th breakfast and try Yvonne's buttermilk sauce
February 12th, 2013
@maggiemae Sorry to say it's quite a muddy river maggiemae, I think because it's tidal it just seems to stir all the mud up....we aren't in NZ you know with your wonderful turquoise rivers worse luck!!!! good point though & I will have a go next time when it's sunny!!

@judithg If we flood here Judith it's a disaster for everyone around us, we are the highest point in the Fylde. Must be terrifying being near flooding.
February 12th, 2013
It's so depressing seeing all the flooded fields. At least we have a few dry days ahead (apart from Thursday!) - if we are wet everybody else is wetter - let's hope we can all start to dry out.
February 12th, 2013
Ooh, wet and bleak. Great processing though!
February 12th, 2013
We get the picture - pretty bleak! You won't be two bricks short of a load then?
February 12th, 2013
i viewed large Pat and it cannot be described as a dreary picture ...only a dreary day
February 12th, 2013
@busylady He he !!
February 12th, 2013
@phil_howcroft Pretty dreary Phil with only the remains of the maize in a sea of boggy soil. Come the summer it will look so different!
February 12th, 2013
Wet is wet. I like your composition though

I loved looking at it large and seeing the slashes of the water in the dark field...and that gate gives it quite a bit of interest.
February 13th, 2013
I "bothered" and loved the detail on the gate in the enlarged view!
February 13th, 2013
Hopefully this year it will stay calm
February 13th, 2013
Looking at the enlargement really shows the wonderful details in this rain soaked landscape! Looks like you could use a few sunny days over in your corner of the world, Pat.
February 13th, 2013
Great shot. You are at the end of the *new moon* phase and that seriously effects the tides.
February 14th, 2013
It does look a bit grim.
