A lovely sunny afternoon in Covent Garden enjoying a light lunch.
It must be 25 years since I last visited Covent Garden & it had changed little & much as I remembered the place, although busier & of course lots more facilities for outdoor eating.
Outdoor eating seems to be the trend now much more so than 25 years ago....Harry & I were so unused to London in those days we mostly ate in MacDonalds nervous about going into restaurants...how times change!!!
As for Paella we had never heard of the stuff!!
Three good things:
1. We are a bit more worldly & used to better things now a days!!
2. Harry has some new Collagen tablets which according to reports are wonderful for aching joints.....will report on progress!
3. Going to try making my own oven chips tonight...Slimming World recipe...will also report on taste!!
I can't believe you were in London and you didn't let us know! I only work down the road from here - next time Mrs Knowles you must let me buy you a coffee! I love people watching from this spot - I've never had the paella from here but it is a very busy little spot
@sparkle I would have loved to have met you Juliette & will come to London again but no good meeting with Dot, she is not into photography at all!!!! Will let you know next time, will be in the summer sometime!! I think it must be so exciting working in London but I suppose you are used to the place!!!
@happypat even if it's for a cuppa Pat, it'd be great to meet! Working in London has been great and is still exciting for me as I've only been doing it for 9 months - the last time I worked here for 3 months that was 20 years ago! I think it's a city you can never tire of!
@khirsch Oh we didn't stop for Paella Karin we had just had a pannini but I would have liked to have stopped but we were on a mission to see as much of London in a day as we could, think we must have walked 5 miles at least ...I will take it easier next time!!
Love the pov (one way of making sure nobody knows you are taking their pic!) How times have changed, I agree! Will you post the oven chips recipe if they are good? Please?
@quietpurplehaze@bizziebeeme Thank you both & yes we have eaten the chips...not as good of course as the proper deep fat fried...ooh the tummy is rumbling now thinking of them but adequate.
Cut potatoes into chips, not too thin, par boil them for about 1 minute drain, spay with that very low fat oil you can get, sprinkle with salt & put on top shelf in the oven. Supposed to be less fattening!!
@judithg of course, we still need to do our get together...we should really strange that now the weather is getting better. Would be cool the 3 of us to have a day in London shooting!!
@judithg@sparkle Yes I'm game, I will come on the train...you choose when... any time for me as long as I haven't got B&B in ....ooh am excited now...I might pick up some tips!!!
@happypat@judithg well seeing as Judith and I's last meet up was all about the food and drink, we shouldn't change the format! Let's get our heads together on a date then...Thursdays, Fridays and weekends are generally good for me...
@judithg from the date range Pat has given there I can do 17th, 18th, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th...can't move weekday client days at this short notice...let's see if they tie up with GCSE gaps!!
You three are going to have such a great time! I can't imagine meeting up with a person you have never met but know so well! This place has lovely big flagstones to be nice and flat for tables and chairs!
@maggiemae Yes it will be rather funny maggiemae like a blind date!!! LOL ! Would love to have had a good look round here but my friend is on the move the whole time...I wanted to look in the Barbour shop but no time!!!
I love your vantage point for this shot. I'll be making paella one night this week (bought the chorizo this morning) but I'm sure it would be more fun to have it here.
LOVE THIS! Susannah and I had two trips to London to visit my sister in Esher and loved visiting here. I have to smile at your comments as she was much more 'aware' than I was.......and that was a while ago!
Ha ha, fascinated to hear CG hasn't changed much, I can't really tell as I've been here all this time, so any changes are kind of evolutionary and you don't notice. The outdoor eating (and eating generally) thing is a lot better and lots of good choice.
So glad you had such a wonderful day in London! Love the perspective in this shot. This looks like a delightful spot for an outdoor lunch!
Hope those collagen tablets help Harry's knee...will be interested to know if sees improvement after a few weeks.
@peggysirk I will keep you informed Peggy. My daughter has a friend whose father was so bad with his knees that he was thinking of getting one of those motorised buggys...he started taking these & after a couple of weeks noticed an improvement & today he is back at work in a manual job a new man!! He is now promoting these tablets, not cheap bout £15 per month but worth a try.
You've given me an idea as we have an eating place like that nearby!
