A long day in Leicester yesterday at Leicester De Montfort University. This uni is one of the ones on Lydias list which does Speech & Language Therapy the others being Norwich & Strathclyde.
I must say we were very impressed with Leicester, the area we were in anyway. Very picturesque with a castle, cathedral & also the River Stour running beside the university which had 8 man rowers working out & lots & lots of swans.
There was lots of personal contact before the open day plus free drinks vouchers etc.
We went to a talk first which was very useful & enlightening....apparently only 29 places for Speech therapy in 2013-14 although over 400 had applied!!
The photo above is one of the tours of the accommodation we went on , you can see Cathy & Lydia at the back.
Afterwards we had a short walk into town, fabulous shopping area with all the top shops....we did have a little spend!!!
A meal in town was planned but suddenly Cathy realised we might be locked in the car park so we had to beetle back quickly!
All was well & we ended up in a MacDonalds on the way home, very nice as it was ages since I had had a Big Mac!!
Three good things:
1. Safely there & back to Leicester....a long way for Cathy to drive!
2. Lydia bought some lovely things for two weddings this summer including a fab pair of shoes from Hobbs.
3. Harry cooked breakfast very competently for the B&B's!!
Looks lovely. I've only been to the Space Centre (seems to take ages to get there as from our side you have to go all the way round). Next time I'll have to go into the city. Norwich is a beautiful city as well mind you (apart from the one way system).
Hi Pat, glad you enjoyed your trip to leicester...the city centre has had a lot of money spent on it .....nottingham is still the top city in the east midlands though :)
