Winter Rations. by happypat

Winter Rations.

A truly horrible day...drizzly cold rain & a sneaky litttle wind, it does not inspire you to go out with the camera.

Since 1st November Henry has been on his winter timetable & having a breakfast of ration every morning.
There isn't much nutrition in the grass for a middle aged sheep & he comes racing across as soon as he sees Harry with the orange scoop.
He has new bedding in his hut so all set up for the winter.

Three good things:
1. A warm fire.
2. I have finished at last the long rambling book I have been reading....tedious was the word!!
3. A long chat to a friend on the phone.
Regarding 2. - you did well not to give up! There is something just lovely and touching about this shot with Henry getting his breakfast of ration. I'm giving it a fav for how it makes me feel - and Henry is a great subject!

Wonderful shot! Henry seems to be thoroughly enjoying his breakfast! And I'm sure he is comfy and cozy in his winterized little shelter. I adore your sweet Henry. :)

What a lovely shot. If he ever needs medication then that orange scoop will draw him straight in.

@quietpurplehaze @peggysirk @steampowered
Thank you all very much...& yes you are right Paul, as soon as he sees the colour orange he knows.....he has the time sorted too & watches out of his hut for the signs.

Ah, this is really heartwarming. Lucky Henry getting extra rations and having a nice warm bed for the miserable November nights. Lovely shot.

He is looking well! He will be cosy and comfy over the winter by the sounds of it.

awww, he looks spoilt rotten.

How sweet & lovely to see Henry well looked after and somewhat pampered -- we do it to other pets --so why not Henry !! AN ENDEARING SHOT Pat !!
November 11th, 2013
Oh how sweet! What a cute chap & lovely shot!
November 11th, 2013
A lovely capture. He needs to be pampered on such a col wet day.

Hurrah - Henry's back! He obviously knows what's good for him. I have been reading a book that I've enjoyed but I will be pleased when it finishes - it has a mystery ending but instead of enjoying the whole book you end up just wondering what happens.

So Henry can still race? Good for him to keep agile at his age! I'm afraid I speed read a lot of boring books!
November 11th, 2013
@judithg @maggiemae The book was Ok to begin with & was only the last one third that meandered on & on....should have ditched it really....haven't read a good book for ages!!

Pat, have you read 'The Fault in Our Stars', by John Green. It's one of the best books I've read in a long time. I read it a year or so ago and it stays with me. 'Bel Canto' by Ann Patchett is excellent, and 'Gone Girl' by Gillian Flynn is a good read. Those are just a few that come to mind right off.

Henry's looking well!
November 11th, 2013
@peggysirk Thanks Peggy....I have read Gone Girl which I really enjoyed but not the other two....going to check on my idle now!!! Just between books so an ideal time to look!
November 11th, 2013
Kindle not idle !!

November 11th, 2013
@peggysirk I have downloaded The fault in Our Stars , it has great reviews but couldn't get Bel Canto in the English version.
The tennis has just finished!!!!
November 11th, 2013
Isn't he lovely! I didn't realise sheep recognised colours - I think I always assume all animals are like dogs in that respect (though I'm sure Luna recognises bright colours)!
November 11th, 2013
Hand fed, my my, a little spoiled I do believe
November 11th, 2013
Ah cuddly Henry, love him.
November 11th, 2013
I think you'll like 'The Fault in Our Stars', Pat. Such endearing characters in that book. Another good one is 'Every Last Cuckoo' by Kate Malory.
I had hoped that Rafa would make it a come from behind victory. No more tennis until the Australian Open in January. :(

Fantastic shot! Love the splashes of green and orange against his wool. He sounds like a very well looked after sheep.
