Berry Lane is the main street in the town of Longridge in the Ribble Valley.
Known mainly for its stone quarries & cotton mills the town has remained unchanged & although the quarry remains the mills have all closed down.
Most of the houses & shops are built of the local stone.
All my children went to secondary school here but since we moved to the other side of the M6 I don't go there very often now.
Surrounded by farms it's very typical of a small country town with down to earth people with no fancy airs & graces. The shops are thriving & there are some beautiful craft & gift shops. Lydia has a Saturday job in one of the nicest ones.
Longridge people are very fit as they have to walk up & down this long road to do their shopping!
I enjoyed The Mousetrap last night which was very professionally done although I had my usual problem of the sound.
Three good things:
1. No need to go out today on this bitterly cold day....not nice cold but windy & wet.
2. Watching Max dancing on the new video that came yesterday.
3. Made a decision about the car...keeping my own for a while longer...too good to part with & I like it too much!
A super country town , I can well believe you have to be fit to shop here Glad you enjoyed "The Mousetrap"and a wise move hanging on to your well loved car
@beryl Thanks Beryl.....I am relieved, they put a fair bit of pressure on you at these car sale rooms so i was stressed. Was going to try one out for a day today but I cancelled last night. Mine has just had new tyres & new tax for a year so the best thing!
Thank you all...I forgot to tell you Longridges other claim to fame ..Paul Heathcote started out here & has a restaurant in the town ....you can dine like kings!!
An excellent picture of long Berry Lane and a super description of your links with the town, it sounds a really nice place. The light is beautiful in this shot, really autumnal. Weather horrible here today as well - cold and windy, a bit of a shock to the system.
I tend to think Longridge is always snowy as whenever it snowed dad would take us over that way - drove my mum mad - she'd worry until we got home safely!

Thank you all.....I did like the long view down to the bottom myself....... this is a very nice sort of hard working town somehow.
