My New Zealand

A photo that sums up the NZ I know & love.

In holiday mode always of course, no cooking, summer time of sun & warmth & being taken to lovely places in the company of family not seen for a year.
I got back yesterday afternoon so am only just getting myself together, shall start commenting again very soon.

A very dodgy start to my holiday with cancelled flights due to the high winds, two unscheduled stays in hotels, one in Chester the other in Dubai. Missing baggage left in Melbourne & a bout of gallstone trouble but otherwise a wonderful holiday!
A great group of fellow travellers to different places....I shared a room in Chester with a lady from Sheffield called Eileen whom I met in the check in queue who was off to Perth. There was Betty from Lancaster visiting friends in Tasmania who I discovered on an escalator in Dubai had her feet done by my Cathy & a young lady called Anna who missed her friends wedding in Wellington....she & I were the only survivors in Auckland both without our cases. I was very glad of her company & help in sorting it out.

Lovely to meet all the family & growing grandchildren , two delightful 21 year olds & a very chatty 3 year old & of course new baby Finn...more of them later in the week.

I met a @andreajoy in Taupo, a wonderful warm & chatty meeting---so much to talk about, so little time but felt we were soul mates, a very rewarding couple of hours!
I also met up with @julzmaioro & @rustymonkey at the cave cafe. Again we all got on so well & I so enjoyed meeting them both. They even babysat Finn whilst we ate out pizzas....so kind!
They have all put photos of our meetings up on 365 so I won't do that here.
Two 365 meet ups to remember, we will repeat it next year hopefully & include @maggiemae.

I have not looked at a computer since I set off on the 12th February so have feel I have missed all your news & pictures but on the other hand I enjoyed the break.

Lots of good things:

Wonderful time with family.
Getting to know grandchildren again at every stage of their lives.
Friendships formed in unusual settings.
I am a rather fetching shade of bronzed colour!
I am far away in the above photo so you can't see too much detail!

The photo was taken two days before I flew home on a private beach on the west coast just above Te Akau. We took the trailer & quad bike through acres of farmland to get to it but boy was it worth it!!!
Anthony picked fresh mussels off the rocks for supper.
So glad to hear you are back safe and sound Pat.It sounds as though you had a great time with your family.I have missed you whilst you have been away and look forward to seeing more pictures like this beautiful one

Hurrah you're back safe and sound - what a start! And then you get to come back to your home family as well - all good things. That beach looks incredible. Just off out for the 5th night out of 6 so I'm way behind as well but will be dropping by to catch up with your NZ glory.

Great to hear all of this on your photo which is super with the dark green of the wave coming in! Funny how strangers come together in times of difficulty then disappear and remain a memory only! Its also nice to be able to tell people what happened.

Great view. Glad you got to see fellow 365ers.
March 15th, 2014
Wow - such incredible colours Pat, and so glad to see you back again. I've really missed you, esp when you were following us around NZ. We've been back three weeks now and I've just about stopped feeling tired in the evenings! It must be hard for you to see your family so infrequently but so joyful when you all meet up again.

That sounds like a remarkably mixed up trip...but sometimes these little side adventures have their own fun attached.

Good to see you back. Sounds as though you had quite an eventful holiday. It will probably take you a while to recover now.
Beautiful shot. Love the lines, so beautiful.

A lovely NZ photo - who is that bronzed bathing beauty??? Looking forward to seeing more of your photos when your body clock gets used to being at home again.

Love your photo Pat. You are right, so depicts NZ including the bathing beauty. You will be slowly getting back into UK time. Had coffee at Piccolo's today and thought of you. Wet and wild, but sticky. 😍😍

The ribbons of colour that you have captured are wonderful. It would make a good new flag for the country which comes up for the vote later this year.
March 17th, 2014
Good to see your back safely and you had a wonderful time
March 17th, 2014
Sweetie, On today's Max shot on the beach you mentioned about Gallstones; if you can mange it via diet do! I had mine removed and it was the worse decision ever! If I could do it over I would take the pain of the gallstones 'fits'rather than the result of the op

Looks wonderful!

Welcome home Pat! Looks wonderful - can't wait to swim in the sea next. Enjoyed the round up (sounds like you managed the adversities with aplomb!)

@claireuk So interesting to read Claire.....I know nothing about gall stones so any input is very welcome. At the moment the doctor says see how I go on & if any further trouble he will recommend removal.
To be honest I really consider myself a low fat diet person so am flummoxed to see how I can manage going much lower. No butter or bread, cakes, fatty meals such as fish & chips no more than once a fortnight....I love yoghurts & never buy the low fat ones so perhaps that needs to be amended.
I am not overweight ...fair , fat or forty as has been quoted LOL!
I am going to be extra vigilant in my eating plan so do hope I can keep hold of the gall bladder. What disadvantages do you feel on having to have it out Claire.....for you that is?
March 21st, 2014
@happypat Hi Pat, firstly like you I eat very little fat, I don't even own a chip fryer of any description. My hubby has high cholesterol so it has been a low fat diet for 20+ years! When I had a very bad attack after eating just a banana sandwich the doc decided enough was enough and I was too naive to know different. I was a day patient and had keyhole surgery but took 6 weeks to recover! The rest is not really for a public domain discussion, do you get comments via email? If so I can send you my email address and we can discuss this further.
March 21st, 2014
@claireuk Yes that would be good Claire......any info is important.

March 22nd, 2014
