Which cream cake I wonder? by happypat

Which cream cake I wonder?

I met a friend I hadn't seen for over ten years today....it was as if we had seen each other the week before!
A bit of lunch in the garden centre & a good old natter for a three hours & only a couple of photos to show for it!
A wonky Christmas tree in the background!

Three good things :
1. A lovely chat with an old friend.
2. Custard slices.
3. Laughing at funny birthday cards.
Yummy scene..it is always fun to catch up with friends..

That really is too early to have a Christmas tree, surely?

The scene and narrative both are delightful!

A delightful scene --isn't it great to meet up with old friends -- recently I met up with an ex colleague and friend who had become a Xmas card & birthday card Now we have renewed our friendship by meeting for lunch once a month or as near as we can ! It doesn't feel as if we have been apart at all !!

Custard slices. Oh I love custard slices. Really like custard slices. Might have to buy some tomorrow. Meet up with the girl I shared a room and house with when went to Uni, not seen her since her wedding day 10 years ago, it was like you as though it was only yesterday since we had seen her.

How lovely. Just shows how strong your friendship is - time between meeting up doesn't weaken the links.

Garden centres are such great places for a coffee and a browse. Love all the Christmas things at our local one.

October 7th, 2014
@happypat Ah yes. One of these days you will see my mum and dad sitting there having lunch!

How nice to be able to meet up after all that time , I am sure you could have talked all day

Any date scones nowadays?? John's favourite but not mine - rather have a good cheese roll! Lovely bright picture with its wonky Christmas tree and good to have the three hours to spend with your friend!

What a lovely way to spend an afternoon. I seem to have gone away from taking a shot which shows how I spent my day. Must be getting lazy!

Definitely a spoilt for choice place. The worst thing is when you are smacked up for a certain cake and they don't have one, then i'm totally lost.
October 7th, 2014
ooooh errr Pat , I spot a Christmas tree.
Is this the garden centre that always does early decco's
October 7th, 2014
@phil_howcroft no Phil this is a different one but they still had lots of Christmas decorations up.

Looks like a nice bakery. I am just wondering about the Christmas tree that is already up
October 8th, 2014
I think I would be spoilt for choice in a bakery. Christmas trees already. Oh dear. They seem to start displaying Christmas things earlier and earlier each year. they will be starting at Easter soon.
October 8th, 2014
@julzmaioro funny Julz, my first choice was a lemon meringue pie but you had to help yourself & I couldn't get it onto the cake server....first slice out & it was awkward so plumped for the custard slice.
October 8th, 2014
@happypat Oh that is another thing we have in common....
October 8th, 2014
Looks a great place to meet - and I'd have chosen a cream cake 'cos I don't have them very often!
October 8th, 2014
Don't you hate to make those choices? Oh give me one of those, one of those....
October 8th, 2014

October 8th, 2014

October 8th, 2014
@countrylassie no Lesley....Dobbies at Clifton.....are you from this area?
October 8th, 2014
How wonderful to catch up with someone after such a long time, that wonky tree looks like one of mine;0)
October 9th, 2014
@happypat I'm from West Cumbria, our nearest Dobies is Carlisle 65 miles away. So good to have a good old catch up, where would we be without our friends?

That's officially the first Christmas tree I have seen/heard of this year. I generally think that anything earlier than December is a bit ridiculous. Early October is AWFUL. Judith's right - you should have pushed it over in protest.

Here's to old friends!
October 17th, 2014
@countrylassie well you might as well come to our Barton Grange then.....much nicer & warmer! Could meet up one day if you are down this end of the northwest!
