The tree

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree
Oh candles shining so brightly.........

Our tree which is still on its feet after falling over... I cut the top off as it was too tall...still too tall but I daren't touch it again!
The poor angel has a bent back! Our ceilings are pretty low so not much room.

Our brother in law died suddenly today.

Three good things:
1. Had a long talk to my sister today, it was good to hear her voice.....
2. I tried Alex's recipe of avocado & tomatoes on toast.....very nice.
3. After church cleaning we went to our local cafe for coffee & a scone.
Oh so sorry to hear about your BIL.. so sad so close to Christmas.. Avocado and Tomatoes on toast are good lots of salt and pepper... Is it a kiwi thing.?? love your Christmas tree.. tested my Christmas tree allergy the other night kids sitting at Donna's .. and with in half an hour my eyes and nose were streaming... so stick to artificial ones here...

Oh Pat that's sad news - so sorry to hear that. And at Christmas time it's just so much harder. And your decorations look so lovely - I love the greenery going up your beautiful stairs.

@julzmaioro well it could be as I have never heard of it before ....it was very nice & a simple lunch. I will have it again. BILL had been ill for some time & only just come out of hospital with a blood clot.....because his own doctor hadn't seen him there has to be a post-mortem, even the police were there for an hour. All the more distressing for close family. Thank you Julz.

Sorry to hear about BIL. Sad news at this time of year. Your tree and house look gorgeous even bent a bit. Looks very homely.

That happened with my granddad - they make you feel guilty - it's not very nice at all. They questioned my step-grandma a couple of times even though she was quite confused. Should be straightforward if he had been in hospital though - hope they are coping as well as possible.

So sorry to hear your sad news, so distressing for everyone. Your tree looks so good at the foot of the stairs - glad to see it's still standing. We haven't fixed ours yet - we have to find a new place which means furniture shifting. I'm full of cold again and Peter has man-flu so it may be have to wait till another day.

We have just had two BIL's die in the last month! John is saying it is dangerous to be his BIL! We have two left and they are healthy thank goodness. A shock for the whole family.
Your picture looks so welcoming and delightful! The stairs are decorated so beautifully.

@maggiemae you didn't get as far as the stairs did you maggiemae? We do have very nice shallow stairs I must say....good for all the oldies I get staying!

A lovely warm feeling shot. Sad to hear about your BIL - it is always a shock, even if he had been unwell recently.

Lovely tree, it seems to have survived its traumas quite nicely.
sorry to hear about your brother in law. Always worse when disasters happen so close to Christmas. David and I are having a 'non Christmas' this year. We have had so many dramas at Christmas time in the last three years that this year we need some quiet time to ourselves. We have close friends who are also in need of a non Christmas and we are having one together.

I am so sorry about you BiL. Sad at any time of year but somehow worse over Christmas. We lost an uncle who died unexpectedly on Christmas Day. I was quite young when we heard but it always seemed awful.

So sorry for the loss of a loved one at any time but so near Christmas My heart goes out to you and yours. On a happier note, avocado & tomato on toast is to be my breakfast this morning. My father in law introduced me to this breakfast dish over forty years ago. Add a squeeze of lemon juice salt & pepper. Yum.

A beautiful warm and friendly scene Pat - love your tree with the" bent "angel !! Nice to have something quirky and individual !! lol !
The tom and avocado toast sounds very tasty --shall try this --it should be good to cleanse the palate after Christmas and all the rich foods !

So sorry to hear of your brother in law's untimely death -A shock at anytime but seems to be worse during all the celebrations of Christmas !

Your angel will need some straightening for the rest of the year.
December 17th, 2014
Such sad news Pat and awful to have had the police involved it makes it seem much worse somehow. How they get the PM done quickly. Avacado and tomato on toast is going to on the menu of all your 365 friends now. I must try it.
Love your staircase and don't worry about your tree we had the same problem one year and had fiddled about cutting bits of the bottom and were just creating another problem so gave up!
