Lovely new growth on the trees in our wood....love these sweet little cones in the sun.
Harry has just come out of theatre after his new knee operation so I won't be able to comment so much tonight. I am just going to pop in & visit for a while.
He was so hungry when I spoke to him just now having had nothing to eat since ten o'clock last night....rather ridiculous when he was having an epidural & only went down to theatre at 2.30pm.
He will eat with relish the cauliflower & cheese soup on offer even if he didn't originally fancy it!
Feeling strange as its the first time I have been in the house on my own at night ever!
Gosh Pat, that's impressive that you've never been apart for a night. And rather wonderful! Hope you sleep well. I always wrap up warmer I often get cold without hubby there. Hope harry recovers quickly. Lovely spring shot.
@happypat I'd go to the chippy! I had microwaveable beef stew and dumplings this week when we returned to an empty house after being away and daddy was still away...
A wonderful new life so green and fresh ! So pleased for you both that Harry is safely through the first hurdle and now best wishes for a speedy recovery ! After the visit -- go to the chippie and you will be able to relax for the evening ! -- take care !
Your photograph is beautiful - always are! Good quality, focus and colour. Glad to hear Harry's come out of the op OK. It will be exciting finding out how much better his knee is! The house seems so empty when one person is missing - like an empty space everywhere - fun to eat whatever you like - chocolate, chips, rum toddies, sausage rolls (not all at the same time, though)
This is just beautiful pat, so green and such perfect darling little cones. How amazing that Harry and you have never spent a night apart at home. I wish him a speedy recovery and you a relaxing evening
Beautiful shot and glad Harry is recovering. How odd that you have never been in the house alone before.
When David was in the military he was away regularly and out of the 45 years we have been married he has been away for about 10 of them.
@onewing Thank you Babs not only have I not been alone in the house Harry & I worked together all our married life outside on the farm.....I think he has earned a break! It must have made you quite self sufficient with David away so much. Mind you I am too because Harry never had time to go away much so I went on my own or with friends & family. Anyway I survived my first night!
Gorgeous photo and hope Harry has arrived home and all goes well getting on the go again.
Thanks for all your lovely comments on my recent photos .....taking a while to catch up and ado stuff as I've done something in my shoulder and arm, connected to nerve / disc at base of neck. At home for another couple of weeks and another physio appointment Monday afternoon. I've to lie for 20 minutes of each daytime hour and do exercises so hopefully it will settle down. Even typing on tablet putspressure on elbow / wrist/ finger tips. The things we take for granted in day to day normal!
WOW. ..being on your own for the first time must have been a challenge. It's not some thing I enjoy but have had to quite a few times. Appreciate each other all the more after! X X
@sarah19 Thanks Sallie...just wondering when I read your last post what problem you had.....do hope it clears up quickly nothing worse than aches & strains giving pain all the time. Harry is in hospital until Tuesday so two more days yet. I seem to have no structure to my day at all & am reluctant to be bothered to cook! I have just eaten a cottage pie I made for Harry while I was in NZ last year...was good though...I had to scape the ice off it!
Oh poor you! I spent many a night on my own when we were first married as Peter often worked away from home. I love this shot of the new Spring growth. Get well wishes to Harry and a speedy recovery - not too speedy!
@busylady thank you Judith, I wil pass on your good wishes. He was much more cheerful today, no oxygen mask, no drip but still one more tube in but hoping for that out tomorrow. All going to plan!
No!! I can't believe that Pat although when I think about it I think I have only been on my own in this house once and that was recently because although Nigel goes away all the time there is usual a child (6'1" worth these days) at home as well. Before we had children I used to worry all night about being alone - then I used to laugh about waking up in the morning with at least one extra body in bed and not having noticed!

Hope Harry is well on his way to recovery by now.
This is a very lovely shot. The colour and shallow DOF look great.
