Goodbye by happypat

Goodbye

Manchester airport tonight & Brian & Lesley are checking in.
They did talk about upgrading for part of the journey as they had quite a few points. On enquiring they discovered that you have to upgrade for the whole of the journey & it would cost another £5000 each....they can think of a far better way to spend their money!
A complete con because some of their points run out soon so it means unless you travel very regularly like a few times a year you can never amass enough points to upgrade!

Three good things:
1. Lots more visitors this afternoon!!
2. Called in for fish & chips on the way home.
3. The very long queue going north as we were going south had completely disappeared when I drove home.
I know you had a wonderful time during their visit, Pat, and hate to see them leave. And three very good things...visitors, no cooking, and no traffic!

@peggysirk very true Peggy....we will miss them so much but know they are happy to go back....we will see them next year too. I think it's our daughter Cathy that misses h
Them most as they can't go to NZ as often as we do. She misses her brothers.

I always took photos of children leaving at the airport! So sad yet happy they have a good life where they live! It puts me off all that cramped space in aircraft going long distances but upgrading - I can think of more things I can spend the money on too!

It's hard to say goodbye. Partir, c'est mourir un peu.

@phil_howcroft No that's what we thought too plus they had already paid their fate of just over a thousand pounds already.....I presume it might be slightly cheaper if you book business class right from the start but we were shocked. There were a few booking into first & business class, no wonder businesses go bust staff traveling in so much luxury like that!

@phil_howcroft a Freudian slip...not fate...fare!

It's always so sad when they have to go! Good news is next son soon to arrive!

Oh that feeling......it comes round too soon but memories stay.
Hope you're both fine and have lots to keep you busy so you don't feel the space too much.
These upgrades are a bit of a racket aren't they! Laura& Iain had upgrade given on way home. ...but not the return 😐

Super shot, Pat. i love airports but not the policies of airlines - I have never even been able to even figure out how to use my airpoints ... such a con, as are most of these points schemes that consumers are lured with.

They know how to make it sound so good, and tempting till you read all the fine print

Thank goodness we have the technology to keep in touch with our relatives so much easier these days. I am sure you will miss them though.
