I bought three small vases at Emma Bridgewater factory in Stoke.
I put them away but suddenly remembered them yesterday just in time to put them in the bedrooms for last nights guests.
I don't think the chap would be impressed but Sophie I think noticed them.
A very talented girl she made Father John Pauls first vestments.
She has worked for three years for Bruce Oldfield & done a brief nine month stint at Watts & Co London who make vestments for Westminster Abbey & Catherdral plus the London Oratory & the Royal Household.
She has finished her training & now intends to go out on her own doing the same....yesterday's vestments were very beautiful. I would show you a photo but have given the memory stick to the family to download....will post a photo one day soon.
Three good things:
1. Harry came up trumps & when I got back early afternoon he had stripped the beds & the sheets were on the line!
2. I forgot the right lens so texted him while in church & he dropped my camera bag by my car in the car park.
3. Community spirit.
Id love to come sleep in that bed. Ours desperately needs changing but we've been poorly this weekend and our room is full of sammy stuff whilst we build his new furiture which didn't happen this weekend with being poorly......anyway i ramble on to simply say it all looks very clean and inviting and can you send Harry to strip my bed too?
@newbank Ha ha Ruth....believe me ours doesn't look like this.....different when it's B&B! I was just frowning at the untidy un hospital like corners! Hope you all recover soon!
I love this!!! Is this 'our room' ?............though we haven't been down for too long!! And it's not looking likely this summer either, with family coming and going here and me heading north too.
The ultimate touch for a welcome to a B&Ber' I always put flowers out but sometimes they were taken away and put somewhere else! The idea of flowers giving off allergies etc. This looks so good here - hopefully the guest doesn't swing around with his arms and knock all over - one of ours did that recently and broke the bedside lamp!
The men may not actually notice the vase and flowers but it's those little touches that give rooms a feel, along with the lovely heart shaped sachet on the bed. A lovely shot to show a welcoming room. Those sheets and pillows look so crisp a and fresh. Like the shadow of the lamp on the wall. Harry is a treasure!
@maggiemae When I was nursing one of the last jobs at night was to take all the vases of flowers out & line them up outside the ward doors....a different world then. No flowers allowed in hospital wards in the UK these days!
@gijsje@beryl@boxplayer Thank you all for your appreciative comments...I was pleased with my little vases....I might put another one of them up this week.
@jennywren Hi Jenn thank you....I always use white linen as most places do now I think....easier to mix & match too! I decorated this room in the Soring & I am pleased with the result.
Lovely shot and a nice touch to the bedroom. My Mum was a nurse and we all had to learn how to do hospital corners. I always use fitted sheets these days.
Cute wee vase, matches the lamp perfectly.
I had a chuckle imagining you texting whilst the vicar was (and you were supposed to be) praying, or half way through his/her sermon! @pinkpaintpot I think we should make a girlie weekend of it and all go out taking photos!
What a nice touch...I miss my lavender... Well done Harry - I wouldn't mind the un hospital corners. Okay, maybe I would, but I would be glad someone else made the bed!
@newbank Glad it's not just us - ours has the duvet out of the cover, old curtains on the floor and random junk that gets removed from everybody else's rooms - one day it will be tidy...
